No longer functions on my 264 streams
Absolutely baffled by the decision to remove software decoding, since I previously had to disable hardware decoding to get my one 264 stream working. I’m now left with an unusable camera, thank you Synology.

Going Backwards
Genuinely baffled as to how they've taken a perfectly functioning app and now made it less reliable and, in my case, no longer fit for purpose. I thought the purpose of 'development' is that a product is incrementally improved; not at Synology it seems! Forced move to hardware decoding means my previously functioning app and set-up no longer functions. Cue the 'if you submit a support ticket we can help you' stock response.......
Same problem, where do the files save?
Same problem as last year!! The app has been updated (June 24) and it clearly says the files downloaded will be saved within the ‘files app’. Wrong, they don’t download to anywhere. It’s the exact same problem as a few years back and it took forever to be fixed.
Synology is great. This App isn’t
Synology makes great kit and their software is normally fantastic. This App is terrible. I have thousands of recordings in Surveillance Station. None of them, not one, visible from this app. Hopeless.
Please fix the app no longer staying logged in.
The app used to stay logged in in the background for you to check your cams etc faster. Now it appears to be logged in but notification snap shots no longer show until you close the app and sign back in nor will live view work. Please can you take a look. Thank you
Now not compatible with previous surveillance version
Unfortunately did app update and now can’t connect to my Synology via this app. I don’t have Synology 9.x version. Why are you forcing on people to update? Why the app can not be backwards compatible? A big let down.
Push not reliable and no bookmarks!?
IOS Push alerts are often missing the camera thumbnail. Also if Action Rule triggers a push notification you cannot click on it in DS Cam, it is useless. Surveillance Station supports bookmarks - markers in the recording timeline of interest. These are important for integrations with external systems and for identification. Why does the app not? Motion events are too coarse and bookmarks have custom text which you can set and search for. You need to support more of the excellent SS functionality in your app. The app becomes the deciding factor in which NVR manufacturer solution users choose. I want to be able to filter for events like action rules or DVA AI triggers. All of this is missing. If you can’t keep your app up to date then open source it!
No longer retains site details
Version 5.7 no longer remembers any sites and requires entering IP address and credentials on every use. A backwards step not an improvement!
Just doesn’t work anymore…
Can no longer login since they updated the App - strangely enough, I can still login on all the other DS Apps - please put the original functionality back - this is effectively completely useless now!
Rubbish
I invested a fair chunk of money in a DS920 and bought a couple of POE security cameras. I’m a novice at this stuff, but many reviews said it would be easy, so off I set. I managed to get the cameras set up and the DS Cam app worked for a while, but then suddenly my iPad rebooted all by itself and now the app doesn’t recognise any of my credentials and won’t let me sign in. Far from being simple, this is proving to be a nightmare!
