Is EBay legit?
⚠️ The EBay app has poor ratings and negative feedback. Users seem unsatisfied with its performance or features.
Very low quality service for both sellers and buyers. They do not allow you to list an item on the app and they force you to go to their website, when you go to the website it ALWAYS asks you to put in your password and never keeps you logged in, if you try to login using your google account they still ask for your password, and don’t even try to get a temporary sms password because it NEVER WORKS. On the topic of the website the ui also frequently bugs out and shows the desktop ui instead of the mobile one. Also if you want your item to even be slightly noticed you have to pay an arm and a leg, as if the base fees weren’t bad enough, once I sold an item for 50€ and after the advertisement fees, exchange fees and normal fees I was left with only 25€. As a customer its just as bad, I tried to get a refund for a product I didn’t get and ebay rejected it the product as now returned to the seller and I still have no refund, personally I once sent a broken item to a customer and when I was notified of it I gave them a full refund shipping fees included, ebay is just showing how much they hate honest seller while defending dishonest ones. It also doesn’t offer a label for shipping services outside of the big American, Chinese and german ones, so if you want to use your national shipping service to save you and your customers money then you will have a harder time doing it than if you were using the big shipping services. Horrible service from a company that not only charges ridiculous fees but is also a BILLION DOLLAR COMPANY. I pray a competent competitor comes around with lower fees and a customer base just as big so that this complacently bad company can go bankrupt and I can use a different service. Im leaving as soon as that company comes and I encourage all other sellers to do it as well. I will only say that unless ebay implements everything I mentioned I won’t be using it anymore if a competent competitor turns up.
TLDR: Ebay charges high base fees and even higher advertising fees, it doesn’t let you list items on the app and forces you to go to their website. The website is poorly built. You’ll have a hard time getting a refund on an item. And unless you’re in the US, Germany or China you’ll have a harder time selling your items since your national shipping service is likely not included. All of this while having more than enough resources to change everything mentioned (billion dollar company).
It’s getting worse and worse
I’ve been a busy user until about 2 years ago when I moved from the uk to portugal.
Today I logged in hoping to sell a bunch of items, only to discover that Listing an item is no longer possible via the app 😂 erm what? *batting eyelids in total shock*. But there’s a prompt saying “to list an item, go the website”. What a joke.
After much annoyance, a 1000 reverifications I finally logged in and found “list an item” button.
Lo and behold, after filling everything out, I’m unable to provide shopping info because the list just won’t load. I can’t tick “free shipping” and avoid this field either 😭
On top of that, everything is in dollars, although never in my 16 years on eBay have I listed anything in dollars. My address in in Europe and I’m shipping to Europe.
It’s a mess. I absolutely despise this. Everything I log in, it keeps getting worse. Why?!

A minha conta do eBay foi suspensa permanentemente, e não me foram capazes de explicar em detalhe o que tinha feito para ter "colocado a comunidade em risco", não me dando oportunidade para reclamar da decisão. Punição arbitrária que me prejudicou imenso, agora é que não vou mesmo comprar nada aí, nem por terceiros. Existem sites melhores que o eBay.
