Useless

Not clear where to manage your bulbs, can’t manage rooms etc. Even on their website there are no instructions…

works ok on phone

works great on phone but apple watch app always freezes after 10 seconds and has to be forced closed and reopened and it repeats will be getting a 5 star if watch app is fixed overall great lights and well worth the expensive price

Unnecessary data grab

I’ve managed one of these lights for two years via the native iOS home app without the need to install this. Now the home app is nagging me to update the firmware which requires this app and the creation of an account and a resulting data grab. Not happy.

Unintuitive af but works

This thing is unimaginably, unfathomably unintuitive. Like I spend a day trying to figure out how to save a colour. Make a schedule? Why are all the lights in one schedule list? That means if you have several you won’t be able to view one devices schedule on its own.. oh and why can’t you sort your groups in your own order, rather than alphabetical? What if I want to control a device individually rather than a group? It never ends. It’s hard to describe just how user unfriendly this thing is. Nothing is where you expect it to be, nothing works w conventional logic. I once made a schedule and it straight up disappeared. Where to? Oh, it’s cos weekdays was selected as default and it was the weekend so it just wouldn’t show it to me. There’s an option for repeat “never”, if you select that does the schedule disappear into the ether forever? Oh, and each item on the list is called “schedule”, rather than the list of actions itself being called the schedule. To make a new action- excuse me, schedule, you have to navigate to the bottom of the menu in which the other options are adding a new device or a new scene. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT A SCENE IS. Wanna add a favorite? Hmm idk let’s try Setting > Favourites? No, that has a list of favs BUT no way to add new ones, you may only delete them. I literally have not a single clue how to add a device to my favs so I can toggle that one separately without having to make separate groups for each device. This app is INSANE. The bulbs are great but the app is a disaster that nearly undoes the experience. Stick 100 people in rooms w some LIFX bulbs and a paired phoned, I’ll be surprised if ONE of 100 users can figure out the basic functions given an hour to play with it.

Confusing Experience

The lights themselves are great. I only have 1 bulb but the app makes even that a challenge to manage. There are buttons and menus all over the place, needs to be more consistent.

Very difficult to use app

I think of myself of relatively tech savvy, I enjoy working with and tinkering with tech. This app is one of the worst I have ever used. It’s nearly impossible to navigate through, and although I use it quite regularly, I have lost myself in different menus and windows frequently, I have never gotten to grips with the apps design. The developers of this app seemed to have gone for a flashy, new, totally different to conventional app design. Unfortunately the cost of this is the usability of this app which in my opinion is a disaster. Sometimes taking these risked can work, however in this case, it didn’t work. I often get hugely frustrated when navigating and using it. It is not intuitive even to change a lights colour!

Awful app

Haven’t used the app in months, when I opened it to use my bulb the new app that’s there is insanely difficult to use!!! Awful UI. Please fix it so it’s not so difficult to use!

Love the lights not the app

Love the LIFX bulbs and whilst the old app has limits it was much better than the new version. Which I find clunky and not straight forward to use. Try where possible to avoid the app and use google commands . Disappointing

Frustrating system

Sometimes it takes several attempts to switch on lights before they come on. When it works, it works well but it doesn’t always work.

Really unreliable

it’s just a frustrating bulb/app combination. Your new light switch will suffer from LAG (Which gets annoying really fast.) Periodically “goes dark” which requires 20 mins of trouble shooting on google, followed by switching it on and off god knows how many times. uninstalling the app, reinstall the app. BAH! eventually you’ll end up here writing a review wondering what was wrong with your original light switch...
