What other learners are saying
"I've been using Memrise for about two years, studying European Portuguese. I have the paid version - it's a solid learning tool, and it has been my primary resource ever since got it. I find the Learn with Locals feature to be especially useful, more so as my Portuguese improves. My wife and I spent a couple of weeks in Portugal a few months ago, and we were able to handle all of our transactions - stores, restaurants, markets, car rental, etc!" - Voloúre

Memrise Easy Language Learning Reviews

Fun. Language.

Really enjoying learning iclandic. Ja takk!

There is a bug

Lucyxlulu on

I’m a paid subscriber, there is a bug on the first landing page, which announces your community courses are being moved, and at the bottom where we click “continue”, you cannot click it and it stays in this page So the app currently stays on that page and there’s nothing else you can do with the app. The continue button doesn’t work. Please help

Very nice and detailed

I honestly thought this app would be just basic and random phrases, but this app teaches you quite throughly and gives you useful words you would use in daily talking! This app I think so far is very nicely interactive and fun, this app can maybe teach to to intermediate level or advanced, though I’m not sure completely. Funny how it uses k-pop for more advanced learners so you can listen to kpop and actually understand and maybe sing it with accurate pronunciation! This is necessary I’m learning korean but there are also many other languages other than Korean of course. Definitely going to use this app to also learn Japanese later on, though this app shouldn’t really be used solely to learn a language and I recommend other methods to self study and whatnot. (Sorry I’m a yapper)

New update made this app worse

matahtak on

You can’t reset your progress on a language now. Or even go back to review. The app used to be so good I bought a lifetime subscription. Now it’s just completely useless.

Issues

jose_st on

Canada

1. Streak counter is broken and resets even if streak not broken 3 times in the last week 2. Learning the alphabet tones is useless as it just shows the English romanization rather than the language script 3. AI Bot for practicing has no settings outside of advanced and is in the language script which as stated the app does not seem to take much into consideration to teach you

After 10 years you really screwed me. So screw you

Excellent, fun and engaging

I have been using Memrise to learn multiple languages for years. I love the format and the new update is pretty good. The only thing wrong with the latest version is that it took away the ability to download the courses to my phone for offline learning. Now I have to be connected to the internet to be able to use the app. I can no longer study on the airplane. Memrise, please bring back that feature for premium subscribers.

Discontinued Language

SAVE YOUR TIME & INVESTMENT!!! After completing all 336 basic, random steps grade lessons I could never even begin to carry the most basic of small talk conversations. Paid for full subscription….. NO further lessons provided and language was discontinued so review was useless. 0/5 rating, if possible

Awesome!

First Farsi learning app I’ve come across that actually starts by teaching you the alphabet. Saves the words you struggle with so you can review them ( which I find very helpful), has a really good combo of learning, writing and listening. Also the first app I’ve come across that teaches you what is formal and what is informal!

Really not a fan of the new version

JannieMack on

I’m not sure what they were thinking! I speak a few languages and always appreciated the fact that I could brush up and that in the top levels they had expressions and relevant topics, along No with the more complex structures.. It also helped that Spanish, French and Italian had parallel structures. Particularly for Spanish (Spain) the “Learn With Locals” was SO important and interesting. The different accents and some identifiable landmarks made this app fun, useful and challenging. The new version feels like an excuse for You Tube glitz and it’s no longer 5 stars. As the other reviews pointed out, it’s also far less bang for the buck
