Love Noom so much
It’s my second time being on Noom- it ALWAYS works. I’m able to scan barcodes and make better decisions on what food I’ll put into my mouth without worrying I am going to put on weight. I’ve lost 35 lbs first time. I’m losing weight quickly on the second time around. It helps me break from my old broken record of how I think when it comes to food.
Great for Self-Motivated, Poor for Support
If you are self-motivated to manage your food, do your lessons, etc then this is great. The user interface is outstanding and the food database in incredible.
However, if you want support from a person then be prepared to be disappointed. Although they claim coaches are always there to support you, it is an AI coach and not a person. Human coaches are only available Monday through Friday and it is 24-48 to respond from when they are in the office, not when you post your chat message. Basically, if you post a support chat message on Saturday, you won’t hear from anyone until Tuesday or maybe Wednesday. If you’re ok with that then cool. I’m frustrated with the lack of transparency when it comes to chatting with coaches, which is why I’m leaving this so others can set expectations.
Sneaky sneaky company
Be careful of additional charges that they sneak on your subscription. I Paid $165 for this service and thought that I was good to go. To my surprise a week later I was unknowingly charged $93 for “Premium”. I had no idea I signed up for this feature, nor did they warn me that an additional charge was upcoming. I emailed the company and tried to talk with an agent to resolve, only to be told I am not eligible for a refund because I just hit my first 14 days. Money is tight, I trusted this company, and now I’m in a bad place being overdrawn in my account. I rarely write negative reviews but these practices are sneaky and I want to warn any potential new subscribers.
It’s hard when there’s a lot going on!
Whew But the app is good.
Love my coach
I have been using Noom for about 3 weeks. So far I like the ease and flexibility. I am enjoying a wide variety of foods and don’t feel hungry. I especially like my coach who is pushing me to think more about my why and sustainable ways to handle the hurdles I’ve faced in the past. I wish I could see things like how much protein I ate in a meal
SNEAKY SNAKES
They advertised for the oura ring (not cheap) and then never provided an option to connect the oura ring data to the app. If you ever want or need to cancel - be very thorough!! I thought I canceled my subscription (which you can only do through the app itself apparently, not Apple Store ), took it off automatic renewal and deleted the app maybe 3weeks after I started after buying the oura ring. They won’t refund you and will tell you to look in the terms and conditions instead. They can be quite sneaky and difficult like Amazon was sued for. There are other ways and options to be healthy than downright theft.
Syncing Fitbit and Macro counting
My only complaint so far is that Noom doesn’t sync correctly with Fitbit. The steps don’t match at all - not even a little bit. Both apps are up to date and even after 24 hours it doesn’t sync that data accurately. The other thing is Noom doesn’t do macro counting which I’ve heard really works for some people.
2nd time is not a charm
I really loved Noom the first time around. The plan and the support were amazing. This time the price was more expensive and the same plan that I had before did not offer any additional benefits. The app kept redirecting me to make an additional purchase of the same plan. When I contacted customer service(A.I) there was no explanation as to why I couldn’t access my plan that was customized and designed for my weight loss goals.
Furthermore, the only option that was offered to me was to cancel my existing seven month subscription and start over. No bueno…. Sadly, I canceled my subscription.
The only diet that ever worked
I have struggled with my weight since having a child 14 years ago, and mentally since I was in grade school. I’ve tried it all honestly and I don’t say that proud. I tried every way except the right way. Sweets and sodas were my weakness and I thought ‘eating right’ would mean switching from dark chocolate to Carib chips but, nay, this program works in a way that works for me. I can still indulge from time to time and just be mindful when I do. “It tastes good so you WANT more… you are full you don’t NEED IT” I’m down 25 pounds in less than 3 months! I gotta say, this is the best thing I’ve ever found and it’s as easy as an app!
Noom
I was skeptical about Noom, I didn’t like their advertisement about it all being “psychology”, I thought it was a gimmick. I decided to give it a try because I was having no luck with other plans. I’ve been on it only one week and I’ve been powering through the lessons. It all makes sense now, and it is already working for me. So far I see it more as education and some psychology. I signed up for premium which gives me the meal plan, recipes and exercise videos. The recipes have been wonderful. It takes work, but I’ve been happy with the results so far. I’ve lost 4 pounds in my first week, I’m sure I won’t keep up that pace, but it shows that it’s working and I’m learning to eat foods that keep me feeling full while losing the weight.
