So as a basic swipe left/right it’s ok. Variety of people; it’s taking a slightly different and more inclusive look at dating, which is good. But the actual app is terrible. Had notifications of matches in emails that don’t show up in the app. When I click the email link they’re there and matches, but if I was reliant on the app I’d never know. Bizarre, and, obviously, bad.
This side is good, but few problems are Location change option Fake profiles If this is fixed then OKC can we no 1 dating app Thank you Kay
You’ll join, they’ll find you tens of “matches” and at LEAST half of them will be from 5,000 miles away. Way too expensive for what you actually get. Like most apps, you’d probably be better off sticking to what you get free. But the matching algorithm in OK Cupid seems ridiculous, add to that the usual seemingly fake profiles and “I can’t see likes” crowd. Without ANY restriction on location, people just lie and say “London” but they’re actually elsewhere. At least other Match group apps force some amount of truthfulness about location.
Met my current boyfriend and another great guy before. I recommend this app!
Brought the months worth of premium as I had 60 like 50 of which turned out to be in a different country. Canceled the subscription the day before it clean out I had 4 likes and the second it expired low and behold now I have 24 like. Yeah right what a scam
Get everything done at the start of signing up and then the phone number comes then it’s an error then I have to wait then repeats don’t download
First issue: At least 90 percent of people on OKcupid aren’t in the city listed in their profile. This is obvious given 1. Given all of their pictures are taken in tropical locations (I’m based in Northern Europe). 2. It’s mentioned in their profile summary. Surprisingly, most people aren’t shy about admitting to spoofing their location. In Practice, this means the majority of my time on OKcupid is spend sifting through irrelevant profiles. Frustrating as these profiles could easily be filtered out using AI these days. Second issue: the questionnaire-based matching algorithm is similarly broken. I routinely find I’ve been matched with people who are apparently a “99%” match, based on our respective answers. Looking at their profile more closely. It inevitably turns out one of us wants kids and the other doesn’t, making it more like a “0%” match. Whatever the algorithm may think, one person wanting/not wanting kiss is not a trivial preference, like one person preferring Coke and the other Pepsi. These are deal breakers that are obviously highly significant; for many, almost certainly non-negotiable. These are the two main issues I can no longer use this app. There are many others, but it would simply take too long to go into here. It’s a shame because I’ve had some good dates from OKcupid in the past, but the effort to success ratio is now so skewed in favour of effort (pointless effort, like trawling through dozens of fake profiles) I can no longer justify spending any more time with it.
OKC used to be a great app. But it’s now full of bugs (I click dislike on someone and they reappear the next day), they’ve dumbed down the matching algorithm so I can’t decide which questions are important, and their customer service doesn’t even understand the complaints that I’ve sent in about the changes.
OkCupid used to be great. Four or five years ago I used to talk to a lot of people and went on several dates. Now it’s full of people using the feature where they can change their location. I live in the South of England and have set my radius to 15 miles, as I’d like to date someone I can easily commute to. However, since reinstalling a month or so ago, I have exclusively got matches that admit they’re currently in Malaysia or the Philippines and have changed their location to meet an “English businessman”. When I said I would date someone living in the Philippines, I was accused of being racist. For context, my radius is set yo 15 miles. The Philippines is 6757 miles from me. Sort it out OkCupid.
