Owlet Reviews

Connection issues

malicious999 on

Australia

The base station and app are plagued with wifi connection issues. If the base station is disconnected from power the whole station has to be reset because it won’t automatically connect back to the wifi or the app. Setup can be seriously painful as well having to open browser connect to the wifi manually going back into the app only for the app to still not be not connect. When you pay $400 aud you expect the software to function first time around and you’d expect it to automatically establish its link again.

Sock is great, app is horrible

OZT-S on

The sock is awesome, it’s great to have something to monitor your baby’s heart and oxygen. The app on the other hand is poorly developed, has extremely poor connectivity at times, records blank spots while monitoring baby’s vitals and doesn’t connect properly via 5G internet even though it’s supposed to be compatible with dual-band routers. The app really needs an extreme makeover.

Waste of money

jase03macca on

I have owned this camera for over four years and every time I open the app I’m waiting for the latest form of bug to affect the use of the product. Whether it’s poor connection errors, the loading screen that doesn’t appear to ever load, the camera itself requiring factory resets, audio cutting out after 15 seconds the list goes on. I’ve replaced routers, changed Internet service providers, moved properties and yet still the app will fail to connect to the camera. This product is unreliable and I definitely would look at alternative cameras if I had my time again.

The sock is great, the app is atrocious

Like the title of this review states, I do not have a problem with the sock. It is fantastic. The app however is horrible to use. It constantly crashes and I am continuously having to delete it then redownload it back on my phone because I can’t use the features. If I click on the sock option, it goes onto the page and immediately says “Sock 3 (name of child) has been removed) then the app crashes. I do not feel comfortable relying on the app to warn me of the possible situations where I’m counting on it to work. Please fix these issues, we paid a lot of money for this sock (and therefore the app) and it’s not okay that it doesn’t work as intended.

Room for improvement

I love the sock so much but the app can be quite frustrating at times. The app is slow to load up and notifications are delayed. Our base station will go off due to a sock placement issue but when I go to snooze it on my phone is takes some time to load and unfortunately the base station continues the alarm during this time. The camera lags too and often will send me notifications saying that it detects crying when we aren’t even home. I feel like all these things could be fixed with an software and app update. I also think it would be highly beneficial if Owlett created a widget for the iPhone so that you can have the stats showing on your Home Screen as a live feed without having the app open.

Widget

Love this device and app Would love in the future if you could have a widget so I could see my child’s levels without having to open the app.

Not a fan - poor service and equipment

SRB_1989 on

For months now we have been having continuous issues with the Cam 2 - the method to connect the cam to your phone is ridiculous. The app continues to say my phone isn’t connected to WiFi when it is and it’s the correct WiFi they recommend and full signal. App keeps disconnecting so have to remake new accounts and still takes hours to not work. Tried speaking to customer service and provide all the information they required. But as soon as it’s three days without communication they disregard your complaint

Glitches with Cam 2 - not reliable

Bilocristo on

Australia

We use the Cam 2 which is generally pretty good. Unfortunately however the video quality is terrible and doesn’t record a smooth sounding video, eg the film itself is fine however the sound is scattered/broken and inconsistent with the image. What’s worse is that the camera will cut out entirely and just turn offline at anytime. We can’t hear our son well because of the distance so he’s been screaming and dry sobbing by the time we hear him. Not good enough for the price.

Sock is great , base station is terrible

Danni —-@ on

Australia

While the concept is there the tech isn’t , we constantly have issues with the wifi base dropping off and it’s incredibly frustrating. Thankfully sock isn’t effected and is still functional for intended use and still alarms if required and we love that the sock gives us extra peace of mind.

Worth every cent

poulosg on

Such a good device for peace of mind. Very impressed with the customer service I received after we had an issue with the sensor. A new one was sent within two days! The app occasionally glitches and takes a while to connect to the base station but it is monitoring the whole time.
