I am using Strongbox since August 2021 really worth trying if your on Mac / iPad / iPhone 1/ Smaller risk footprint - no browser extensions ( yay !) - it uses Apple's own Autofill to fill credentials in Safari 2/ Its opensouce based - KeePass 3/ License purchase OR subscription - your choice 4/ Store your database where you want. iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive and Microsoft Onedrive, Webdav support, sync to desktop on LAN or local on device. (No mandatory need for MY data to be held only on a developers server at MY risk ) 5/ pleasant, responsive support folk. No snarky attitude. I suggest take a look at their website for more insights.

I’ve been using it for a couple of years. It’s a safe and stable way to store unique passwords and keep track of accounts when using multiple email addresses for login credentials. The file format used is accessible with other programs, so I’m not locked in to one app or platform. Features are great and updates are frequent.

I have been using the free version of Strongbox for iPhone and found it to be an excellent app to store documents, important photos and of course passwords. With every update it has improved. Today I had need to access their support help by email and was very pleasantly surprised to receive a correct answer to my query in a couple of hours. Kudos to this team who provide prompt support even for a free version of their app. Thanks guys.

Excellent UX and lots of nifty features not available in other KeePass clients. Highly recommended.

Excellent KeePass compatible password manager for iOS. All the benefits of a local/private KeePass database with iOS’s auto fill feature. However there’s a glitch auto fill feature in the latest version/update: auto fill is only currently working in the Safari app. In all other apps (eg Firefox, AirBnB, Uber, etc), the auto fill feature is broken & not auto filling usernames & password. An update to fix this would be appreciated.

They have a decent website if your interested. Google "strongboxsafe" Why Strongbox? ....My key criteria: 1/ No need to keep my data on the developers honeypot server. (my data on a developers server at my risk - no thanks). I appreciate lots of people don't think this is a problem and that's OK - its your data to risk if you want. 2/ Can sync via icloud, dropbox, webdav, etc if I choose. Yes, I know its a cloud service but at least its just my own cloud account - not a honeypot commercial target full of millions of users data. 3/ License purchase. Happy to buy new licences when warranted. No subscription payments - not happy to pay every month for fluff features that do nothing for me. 4 / I dont want to have host my own server just to run a password manager app. I used to use 1password. For more than a decade. Recommended it to friends, family, colleagues - boy do I feel stupid now. Anyway, I have no relationship with any password management company other than as a paying customer. BTW...It seems many previous reviews have been deleted off this App Store. The developer advised me "When we moved to being a "universal" app, rather than having separate apps for different platforms, we had to create a new app bundle. That means a new store page and a fresh start on reviews"

Strongbox is fast becoming great - it's a solid alternative to 1Password 8. One thing it doesn't have is identity (address/name etc...) and credit card filling - both of which I use multiple times a day. There are a few rough edges such as some confusing settings/UI interactions but other than that it seems like a pretty solid application. It would be good to see an up to date full, in-dept indepentant security audit of the application code.

Easy to use and works very well with Yubikey.
