Excellent PW manager and easy to use.
I was looking for something to replace 1Password, since 1Password 7 started giving me problems and I refused to upgrade to 1Password 8. I was mainly looking for a password manager that offered multiple options for storing databases. Strongbox does that, even offering a local option, along with being functionally highly customizable and offering multiple ways to organize your entries. I am happy that Strongbox allows you to organize your entries using both folders and tags. 1Password ditched folders in favour of tags. While I didn’t exactly mind the change, I did wish I had the ability to keep certain entries out of sight until needed again without needing to archive them. Having both folder and tagging options allow me to organize my entries the way I truly want to. I also like that you can view all entries that have One-Time Passwords enabled in their own section. The more ways to view your information, the better. One feature that I didn’t know I would be excited about is the FavIcon feature. Not only can you set Strongbox to automatically fetch the icon for you upon creating an entry, but you can manually fetch FavIcons (both for single entries and for the entire database), upload your own photo or use an icon from the database icon set. When manually fetching icons, if Strongbox detects there are more than one version of the icon, you can choose which icon you want for your entry. This is great. FavIcons help make entries more identifiable and I’m glad I don’t have to settle for a default database icon if there is no FavIcon automatically available. One thing I will say is I wish it would choose the higher resolution option when it is automatically fetching. It tends to choose anything 64x64 and under, even if a website has higher res options available. All in all, I am very pleased with this app. I can say more, but then I would be typing forever.
Good keepass alternative and secure solution.
like the title said. if i like what i see, im curious about the lifetime purchase.
Really hard to make sense of. Couldn’t figure out how to set a PIN code to unlock. Really not intuitive.
I was looking for an application that would allow me to manage several KDBX sources, with autofill on the web browser on MacOS and directly on the iOS keyboard, and that would manage OTPs. Strongbox does it all! I recommend
I've tried quite a few password managers but Strongbox seems to be the very best one. It allows you to store Passwords, TOTPs, SSH Keys, and practically any custom field you want to add. Highly recommend.
Best app I have ever used in my life. They take their game seriously.
I've used Lastpass, 1password and Bitwarden and while Bitwarden was great for a while I decided I no longer wanted a third party to own my passwords. KeePass is the solution to that but introduces a new problem which is making passwords accessible and easy to retrieve when needed. Strongbox is the best solution for this. Period. You get all the convenience of the other PW managers while still getting to truly -own- your database. The app itself is easy to use, provides plenty of insights into your database (duplicate passwords, etc) and adds all the quality of life features you might want like bio-unlock, hardware passkey support and more. Overall very happy I switched and I think you will be too.
User of the 1Password app (old version 6), on iMac, iPhone, iPad, Windows and Linux, I have been testing Strongbox for a few days because it seems to be the best in using keepass databases for my spouse and myself except that... the step is really high and finally I start to hesitate to make the move. 1P's display is much more user friendly and the ability to open multiple windows in editing, auto-fill is also very powerful, and the ability to sort group fields is sorely missing... Of course there are also many positive points.
