Meet Stronger by the Day by Megsquats: A strength training program app dedicated to making you the strongest lifter you can be – in the gym, your garage, or even a hotel room.

If you’ve been cherry-picking random workouts or have seen a plateau in strength, it’s time to find a dedicated strength program – and coach – that provides you with a focused path to a stronger you. With Meg Gallagher, aka Megsquats, at the helm, we take care of all the planning; all you have to do is show up and put in the work.


The Gym version of Stronger by the Day is all about building muscle and getting stronger. Your training is built around the progression of these five main lifts: squat, bench, deadlift, overhead press, and hip thrust—complemented by rotating accessory lifts from our library of 500+ movements. You’ll be lifting more weight, building muscle, and having fun in training alongside thousands of other lifters who are on the same journey. If you have time constraints, we also offer the Express version of our Gym program. It’s meant for those who still want to build strength and maximize their gains but are limited to 40-60 minutes a session.


The Bodyweight version is every bit as intentional as our gym training; you won’t be doing gimmicky exercise combinations that just leave you out of breath. You’ll still be following a progression-based approach to build strength and make progress. We’ll show you how to utilize your body weight and simple pieces of equipment – like bands – to still make progress, even without the use of barbells or machines.


Building strength is simple when you have an app like Stronger by the Day. It has a multitude of customizations and we’ll guide you every step of the way. Check out some of the features available:


– Adjustable weekly split with 3, 4, and 5 day/week options, helping you stay flexible depending on your schedule
– Suggested weights for each main lift based on previous training sessions, as well as a reference to recent performance for all accessories
– Option to toggle on a warm up and conditioning session to every workout
– Brand new week of programming released every Monday (12 am, based on your device’s time zone)
– In-app video demonstrations and written explanations for every movement in our exercise library of 500+ movements
– Detailed video and written notes for the exact training focus of any given week, as well as the broader context of where we are in a training cycle (known as our macrocycle)
– Extensive Resources section with videos on lifting content to help you improve technique and continue learning plus a full module on nutrition to support your training goals
– An easy-to-access substitutions library so you can swap out movements whenever you need
– In-app training journal to track your progress
– Stats section to visually see the progress of your squat, bench, deadlift, overhead press, and hip thrust
– Option to select weight unit of kilograms (kg) or pounds (lbs)

The Best Fitness App I’ve Ever Used By A Long Shot

I started with the Before the Barbell programme which is free on Instagram and offers amazing content for a free programme, and three weeks ago progressed to this app. What it offers compared to competitors in terms of science-backed information and programming structure is incredible, plus tips on form etc, and they are continuously listening to the community and updating and adding new features, demonstrating they really care about their user base. I’ve seen more progress in a the few months with Meg’s programme than I ever have across years using influencer programmers. Meg and her team are brilliant and I can’t thank them enough for this fantastic service! As a neurodivergent person (with both autism and ADHD) having a programme that simultaneously gives me structure but also variety to keep me engaged is a huge plus also! Almost programmes I’ve used in the past I end up getting bored and wanting to switch very quickly, but I can see myself using this app for a very long time to come ☺️

This is the first lifting programme I have followed so I can’t compare it to others, but I love how we focus on 4 main lifts and the overall aim is to get stronger in those. There is a discord server for the SBTD community (and those following Meg and/or her other programmes) and I find it so fun discussing the workouts each week with them. If you’re a solo gym goer like me who has no gym buddies, it makes training feel a little less alone.

I love this program, and the app just makes life so much easier. The tracking, the automatic TM updates and the guidance videos that go alongside each exercise really takes the thought out of my workouts! The best part is that they’re continually improving and so I can’t wait to see what comes next.

Great app, so thought out and the programming is great. Easy to use, great layout. On the rare occasion I need to sub an exercise it is so easy to do. It’s great for seeing my progression through the weeks. Really enjoying it and I have tried a lot of fitness apps! Also amazing support from @strongstrongfriends on Instagram if I ever have any questions

Variety of workouts

This is my second week and I am loving the app and programme. I have tried a few workout programmes/apps and this is the best one yet. I love the fact that the programme is changed weekly. The stats recording is good and simple. If I could ask for 1 improvement it would be to able to see my previous PB for a workout before I start a new workout.

Love the program but app not working

I paid for access during the Black Friday sale but can only access the web version as the app isn’t recognising my membership from signing up on a browser and wants me to have a subscription through the App Store. It doesn’t work out as the same amount of money as I’m based in the UK so it’s trying to charge me £99 a year not $99 - the conversion rate means that’s actually more money to pay through the app and I won’t have the deal I signed up for. I’ve tried to get support about this a couple of days ago but haven’t heard anything back.

Great app and great program

Love the program and this app makes it really easy to see what weights I need to do for each exercise and to track my progress. I like that it reminds you of what weight and reps you did last time you did the exercise. No more leafing through all the pages of my notebook to find it! Would be even better with offline support so that I can move from one block to the other even when I am in the areas of the gym with no signal.

Great content, SLOW app

I like the workouts and the structure. However, accessing the instructions or substitutions for workouts is a good 5-10 second commitment for a page load. As I use the app more, it matters less because I have it memorised or have found workarounds, but it can be a frustrating user experience.

Incredible program and intuitive app

The program itself is amazing - I love that you jump into each week as it rolls on, and that the focus changes slowly throughout the year. It’s a great balance between good consistent workouts that give you results and novelty/exploration of different strength skills. The app itself has also come a long way. I applaud the team for developing it in-house. The interface is intuitive and things like substituting exercises or changing an exercise from reps to duration are really easy. The videos are also really handy. My only suggestion at this stage would be to make it work more easily offline, as lots of gyms in my area (London) are underground and have no signal or bad Wi-Fi. But otherwise I think it’s a great app that works very well.
