UniFi Protect Reviews

New update ruined it.

Just as the tittle says. For some reason, it’s now slower and the camera feed won’t update on the home menu anymore. You have to click the camera/video you want in order to actually see the live feed. It’s very impractical if you want to quickly look at something.

Get a 3rd party NVR and switch now

VitaPrimo on

Since they removed the UniFi Video I had a bit of hope this would work with the old controllers. Alas, besides requiring an account on their recently hacked servers, they have also completely abandoned existing hardware owners now unable to access their equipment other than from an unfinished, non-mobile-friendly web interface. The only solution given is an nicely-worded invitation to upgrade—to invest even more on a brand that has already proven to be unrealiable and that doesn’t seem to mind not only leaving its customers behind but actively goes further to act against them by making unavailable the tools they need. These are the very same customers on the forums testing software/hardware at their own expense for Ubiquiti while it’s ready...ish. If the rest of the product lines are any indication, these will never be complete before another takes its place. It’s like Cisco licensing but you get you a piece of hardware that’s just as useful as a license, needs power, and needs connection to some datacenter in the times when user data, personal or not, is the most profitable good in the world. I’m angry sure, but more disappointed to be right on holding off buying more hardware because I felt this was coming since they placed an ad on the old controller years back. Stop buying from Ubiquiti if you haven’t already, unmanage your cameras so RTSP becomes available and with it you should be able to use a third party (or open source) NVR to continue using them while not being locked into the brand even if you can’t sell them. You might need to downgrade firmwares or hack them.

With an AI pro, trying to speak through the app is very choppy, cutting off every other second. The app also crashes when trying to mute.

AppleTV Detections

New of AppleTV app update appears to have lost last detection / motion. Where is the setting to enable this?

Local access is still there

AllNamesAreTaken284 on

United States

It first appeared remote access enabled was required to use this app and the standard ubiquiti support even said as much. However the mobile team shared how to access the console from this app with remote access disabled. Create a local account on the console then log out of your ubiquiti account in the app if you were logged in. I had to give invalid info to get a new option to pop up at the bottom for proceed locally. Tap that and use the local account login info and you’re in with remote access still disabled.

Great update!

I really appreciate the streamlined login process allowing the AppleTV to authenticate through the protect app. Makes a real difference for ease of use.

Like the tab with snapshots of alerts. On WiFi app is fast and responsive, but having a connection issue when connecting on mobile service, will contact support.
