Nomad eSIM: Prepaid Data Plan

I purchased a data plan for the end of year trip by friend recommendations. I found out very late that the data was activated on its own, so I asked their customer service to check from my plan usage whether I intended it to start working on the date their claimed. While I was waiting for their feedbacks, the data expires, so I need to purchase a new data plan (of course not from them anymore). And they came back with $3 compensation offered where what I lost is 15 GB data that supposed to work for 20 more days. Customer Service is unhelpful and keeps insisting that we don’t care for we already state clearly (even though it’s my first time purchasing the service from them and the evidence they provided is very clear that I unknowingly use 12 KB data on the date i added the sim to my phone, scared of losing it, and never used it again until a month later that more than 1 GB traffic happened in a day. ) Not recommended. Choose local provider of your destination or your home country because they won’t keep saying it’s your fault we don’t care for sure.

Having worked in the telecom world most of my life and understanding what hassle it was to either buy foreign sims or alternatively buy expensive roaming packages I am very pleased to see Nomad. My wife and I used Nomad on our trip to Spain and it worked perfectly. ESim is the future.

A friend of mine shared Nomad with me about two months ago, since then I’ve been to Europe, USA and South East Asia and so far it works great! I just buy the amount I think I’ll use then it’s an easy set up and I’m ready to go. No more messing with SIM card booths at the airport. It’s not always the cheapest option though. It’s not the most expensive either. Sometimes when they have discounts its cheaper then the SIM card booths, other times it’s just a few dollars more then SIM card booths, when in Europe it was wayyyy cheaper then any SIM card plans I came across. The process to set up esim at first was intimidating but they walk you through it step by step and it’s super easy. Highly recommend this service. Have been telling friends and family. Only thing I wish the app did tell me is how much gig I used prior to buying my data package. Sometimes I’m just guessing because I don’t know much I need and I’ve over naught on my plans by quite a bit in the past. The other cool thing is it just connects to the local towers. So you always have pretty good service!

I purchased one of their plans for a very inflated price because they claimed that it would work in Myanmar. Once I arrived in Myanmar, I found out that it did not work at all. It took me two days and a dozen emails with customer support to find out that actually they don’t support Myanmar at all. What a joke.

Poor customer service. Lots of other companies that offer same service with better customer service and reliability. Never got a response to my emails, however you finally send a canned response here for public view after a poor review. I’ve moved on. Thx

This is an actual fraud. Bought 1GB , used only for maps overall 5 hours during a day and that’s it. Obviously they cut it intentionally to make you buy again

Constant issues installing; costing massive loss of time, requiring me to contact support, send tons of info and screenshots and leaving me w/o WiFi in dangerous situations in a foreign country where I don’t know the language. Support is responsive but a huge hassle and takes so much time! They request lots of screenshots and takes forever trying to figure out the problem. Meanwhile I’m stuck in unsafe situations with no WiFi in foreign countries, too many times. And recently there’s been a big issue with huge amounts of data being consumed when nothing has changed with apps or usage. So yesterday I paid for a new plan and noticed the new rates are much higher than airolo…more than double. I was going to ignore that, but in a few minutes, half a months data was gone, and I’m on WiFi! After Hours of dealing with support, sending a bunch of screenshots, there’s still no solution. So I tried airolo, and was up and running in a few minutes! I paid half of what nomad charges and got 5GB data, (instead of 3GB on Nomad’s plan) Nomad only refunded a small amount for a 30 day plan that was just bought yesterday. They keep showing me screenshots of apps I don’t have installed on my phone, insisting it is « proof » of usage. When I explain I don’t have those apps installed and that it’s obviously an error, my message is ignored. Clearly they have issues with their system which becomes your issues. Overall not a pleasant customer experience and just feels extremely unfair. But happy to have switched to airolo with a much friendlier customer experience at less than half the cost! PS-I just checked my airolo data and just as expected, since yesterday, there is 0 data used. There are massive glitches and issues with nomad but instead of resolving the problems, they continue to show screenshots of someone else’s phone usage and over charge.

They sell data plans only for surfing the web. The plans do not include a phone number, so you cannot place phone calls or send text messages. Their help option curiously does not load properly? So there’s no way to get customer support from the app.

Bought the CN-JP-KR plan. But the celullar connection is not very stable.
