The recent updates have made this app unusable. I am not talking about the UI changes. The app is no longer able to download and play episodes reliably. The voice features are overrated (smart speed etc) and the built in iOS client’s transcription feature is way more useful. An unbelievable miss from this previously acclaimed app. This is one of the biggest Apple ecosystem related tech screwup’s of the year, IMO. Don’t waste your time with overcast.

Update: 3024/09/14 Marco’s listening to feedback and the app’s slowly gaining features. Swiping is back. Love the app! —- The new design takes quite a bit of getting used to. Don’t know yet if this is muscle memory or slightly poor design decisions. Will know more in the coming months Design and layout wise, there’s still a few rough edges Overall, Overcast continues to be a stable, just works, 5 star app —— This was for the older version pre July 2024: The best podcast player imo. Wonderful option of Podcasts to listen to! 👍🏼

This app used to be great. But now the screen hangs for several seconds sometimes! Play/Pause etc buttons can freeze for seconds. Server data fetches are slow too. The performance is worse than Spotify or Apple Podcast app on my phone. The other apps just work. Guess it’s getting limited due to one developer handling everything and needs 2-3 people to improve the sticky issues.

The best podcast app ever! Simple to use, and effective at keeping you focused on listening, Overcast is leaps ahead of the stock & 3P apps. The silence reduction feature is a stand out. Has found a permanent place on my dock

This app has everything I need. No irritating features. I am using since two years and recommend to anyone. Great podcast app.love this.

This is the best podcast app for people who have lots of podcasts to follow. It doesn’t crash or freeze.

I would want to see something more and some fundamental things from the app but the app is very good at this time as well. Listening history, auto downloads when added to playlists are some of the suggestion.
