## Files Description
Access and organise your files no matter where they’re located — on your device, in the cloud, on an external drive or file server— with Files. The Recent view displays the files you’ve been working on lately in high-resolution thumbnails. Use the powerful Browse view to navigate folders, organise your files with tags, move files between folders, and search. Files also makes it easy to access iCloud Drive and third-party cloud storage services such as Dropbox, Box and OneDrive.

Features

• Press the Files icon in the Dock or Home screen to quickly open a file from anywhere

• Connect an external drive or SD card to your device to access the files

• Connect to a file server at work or a home PC using SMB from Files.

• Use tags to organise files stored with different cloud providers and across different apps.

• Pin your favourite folders in Browse view for quick access to the ones you use most.

• Give people access to any file stored in iCloud Drive by sharing a link from the Files app.

I read books in PDF form using Files but for work and assignment documents that exceed around 70 pages, and require editing, it becomes highly unreliable — not saving the updated changes, etc. It’s annoying and I haven’t found a way around it

Complicated to use, not user friendly at all, terrible UI, Apple could make the best files app on the planet if they actually tried instead of IOS users having to download Google Drive or some other 3rd party app. There is not many supported files especially Webm or GIF, I could go on.
When you save a file it just doesn’t appear on the search list at all.

Another example of Apples continued slide down the drain in terms of software quality. This app is so buggy I can’t even explain the bugs because they are always different. I hate that this is really the only option for viewing files. As bad as the awful iOS18 photos app.

I had thought by iOS 18 that files would be excellent but apparently not. It is still fickle about what it will and won’t open and files stay after you have deleted them. It works a little but we should be better by now.

After the latest update to iOS, I found that iCloud Drive began (automatically) duplicating folders and syncing across devices stopped working. I would delete the nonsense duplicated folders, only for them to return not long afterwards
In greater numbers. At one point, the number of folders I had increased from around 20 to >900 folders. After spending 6+ hours on the phone to Apple, the very frustrating phone calls resulted in numerous important files being permanently deleted (not available in deleted files either). At one point, I watched very important files being deleted as I opened the folder they were stored in. The tech team were absolutely hopeless and only made the matter worse. Avoid this service at all costs!! If you are currently using, stop and opt for a better service before this happens to you. Apple charge premium prices but deliver very little in return.

Over 60gb of data, when I’ve analysed and each folder, deleted lots of items videos ect. After checking, it’s still over 60gb! This is ridiculous and reminds me on iCloud having to change dates to bring up “ deleted Item” to re delete again.
