I’ve been a paid subscriber for the last year. I am very disciplined about tracking my calories and weighing in. There’s a lot to like about the app, and I do recommend it.
However, the user interface is clunky at best and confusing and actively unhelpful at worst.
Food logging has gone backwards, it used to do a lookup based on, I think, the last few times a food was logged and show anything used in the log. That no longer happens. So logging a sandwich is a PITA now.
I have a protein shake nearly every morning and my protein shake recipe never ever comes up as higher than #12 in the suggestion list. Ever. It should be the first match! I do scrambled eggs too, but they never show up in the first page of suggestions either.
Checking in is opaque - calorie decisions made by the algorithm aren’t explained and don’t seem to make sense.
We weigh ourselves every day, so why is this action two taps away - it’s same number of taps as recipes? Focus on the actions we always do and present them right up front.
If you’re entering multiple foods and make a mistake, it is way too easy to delete all the foods, forcing you have to re-enter them again.
Focus on usability for a while please. Read Tufte. These problems were solved by others long ago.
Amazing App
I used this app to track my calories & macros after gaining so much weight. After using this app to calculate calories, fats, protein, & carbohydrate intake, I was able to lose over 50 lbs. For its price and features, I highly recommend it.
Amazing
It works really good
Highly recommend this app
Great app, really helping me make my fitness goals
good app
was worried I lost all my data after the subscription, my recipes are locked in there so I had to resubscribe. don’t really use it any more, aside from recipes, but it was extremely useful for finding my actual calories consumed / logging weight. used it intensely for 3+ months, and a full year for recipes
Best one I’ve tried
Over the years I’ve subscribed to LoseIt, MyFitnessPal, and Cronometer, and I’ve played with several others. MacroFactor is the best one I’ve found. It is modern and fast and straightforward to use.
Stellar Design
This is my first macro tracking tool I’ve used, and I was worried it would be clunky and a pain and under deliver, but I have to write a review because it is so well made and pleasant to use. I am blown away by the depth and quality of this app. I want apps to use algorithms to adjust its advice for me just like this does. It also looks amazing, feels amazing to navigate and use. Well done.
Easier and more effective than Noom and free calorie trackers
I have been using this app every day for 3 1/2 months. It has revolutionized my understanding of nutrition, my eating habits and has helped me drop 23 pounds in that amount of time. Combined with regular exercise, this app is a powerful tool for positive health improvements. If right now you’re eating without understanding your calories and macro nutrient intake, you’re flying blind. This app will be like a revelation.
Won't be renewing
Kinda sorry I paid for this app. You would think that a "higher-end" PAID app would have joined the current decade and have an entry for sugar alcohols. In fact, for the price paid I'd even halfway expect it to break it down further by a few of the major ones, like erythritol, since they do have varying calorie contributions. But to leave them out completely for an app in which so many users are likely eating foods with these ingredients is just plain lazy. But one thing is certain, sugar alcohols do NOT contain the same number of carbs as sugar, so an app that isn't calculating these correctly is worthless.
A perfect app
It makes tracking easy and super convenient! It helped me establish my maintenance calories and that’s always something I struggled with. I highly recommend!
