Description

Have your books, PDFs and more read aloud to you by 140+ AI-powered voices in over 25 different languages/dialects!

NaturalReader is a mobile app that can read aloud a variety of texts like PDFs, online articles, cloud documents, even images taken by your camera and so many more.

With over 1 million monthly users and over 15 years of experience dedicated to AI technology that improves the user’s experience, we are one of the most trusted text-to-speech brands today.

Our app has innovative features like the ability to convert and download text into MP3 files, OCR text recognition for PDFs and our camera scanner.

NaturalReader is also an essential reading tool for those with dyslexia and other reading difficulties. By presenting the text both audibly and visually, readers can focus less on the act of reading, and more on the content they are reading. We also offer a dyslexia-friendly font for closed captions and within our text box.

HOW IT WORKS:
Just like a podcast or audiobook, our app lets you be productive anywhere with your mobile device. Complete readings laying in bed, during your daily commute, or walking around campus. By listening on the go, you create more time to do what you love.

Listening to our app couldn’t be easier! Simply choose the document type you wish to upload, select your desired file, and you are ready to start listening. For the best experience, remember to choose your favourite speaker’s voice and optimal listening speed.

Here are just a few of the reasons why our 1,000,000 monthly users love using NaturalReader

-- Camera Scanner: Listen to physical books and notes by using your mobile camera. Convert any piece of physical text into audio, which reads aloud to you. Just take a picture of the pages you wish to upload and you’re ready to start listening.

-- Natural Voices: Enjoy over 130+ AI-powered Voices across 20+ Languages/Dialects to choose from, including our plus voices, the newest and highest technology of AI voices.
Plus voices enable fluid, natural-sounding text to speech that matches the patterns and intonation of human voices. Plus voices are available through our Plus Subscription plan.

-- AI Text Filtering: Choose to filter out distracting and unwanted text such as URLs and text within brackets. Our advanced AI technology will detect these types of text and ignore them, limiting any distractions.

-- Customizable Experience: We have loaded our app with features built to create the most natural listening experience for our users. Choose your preferred speaker voice and optimal reading speed for the best experience.
Other features ways to customize include a dark mode, word highlight, closed captions and an advanced pronunciation editor for new or unusual words, or to improve the readability of acronyms.

-- Cross-Device Compatibility: A free NaturalReader account gives you access to our Mobile App, Online Reader and Chrome Extension. Run out of time? Seamlessly continue listening from your desktop computer to your mobile device.

Absolutely love this life saver!

With the way, my brain works this app has enabled me to function in a fast-paced workplace. The reason I choose this one and use it over others is that you can incorporate the images. I’m in an industry where I’m constantly referencing visual images with the text and other apps, take the visual images out. The one thing I’ve struggled with is trying to download anything and reading it in areas where I don’t have the Internet. I have not been successful with that so far. In addition, the voices are superb. Great job NaturalReader.

Very useful

Excellent for creating guided meditation scripts for yourself or making presentations. Pretty much anything where a voice other than your own seems more fitting. If you do happen to want to hear things read in your voice? You can easily clone it in the proper tone you would like and do that too! Lots of languages and from what I can tell, they’re not only realistic, but intonations often fall right where you want them too. If they don’t, simple punctuation adjustments typically do the trick.

Good product. Too expensive

I have been using the free version for the last month and it has helped me quite a lot with my article readings for the last essay in my master's degree.

This app is okay but not great. The quality of voice is good and in the general sense, natural sounding. I’ve been using it to read research-paper PDFs and it struggles a lot. The problem is that it reads whatever is on the page, ignoring how people typically read. This reads every character, page number, heading, URL, etc, in such a disruptive and peculiar way that it seriously impacts the comprehension of the text. Odd pronunciations pollute the read. Eg: “face-to-face” is read as “fuh-seeta face”. It reads “e.g. Anchorman references” as three sentences: “Ee. (pause) Gee. (pause) Anchorman references”. The voice often has long lags in its reading, often on page breaks, but seemingly anywhere at all. I’m continually pulling out my phone to see if the app has paused or if it crashed. I’ve waited nearly 30 seconds for the voice to resume after it has read a section heading. If you can acclimatize to it’s disruptive and distracting idiosyncrasies, it’s okay. I’ve been using this app extensively for one month and am still seriously distracted by all of the inline pauses and strange pronunciations. Teach this thing how to read URLs and skip page numbers and headings. You stay classy, San Diego.

A generous 3-star

Natural Readers might sound appealing with its “Premium Plan,” but don’t be fooled—there’s nothing “premium” about it. It seems satisfactory during the demo. However, once purchased, the quality of the available voices drastically drops, sounding almost insultingly robotic—a stark contrast to the demo. This tactic feels like a push to make users upgrade to the “Plus Plan,” which you’ll find the AI-generated voices less grating, but still far from perfect. Expect emotionless readings, occasional lag, and frequent mispronunciations. Moreover, the pricing structure is exorbitant, particularly for casual users. The service is geared toward those who rely on such tools extensively; occasional users will find little value here. Another significant drawback is the inability to download complete audio files for offline use, a feature you might expect at these price points. Customer support is another area where Natural Readers disappoints, with responses often feeling dismissive or rude. It’s a clear example of a service built on corporate priorities rather than user needs. One can only hope for innovations in this space to provide better alternatives and challenge the status quo. At the time of this review, I still have yet to write to them to request a refund on the premium plan. It will not be an automatic process?
