Description

Breakthrough DTS Play-Fi(R) technology powers simple, great-sounding whole-home wireless audio systems for smartphones and tablets. You can stream your favorite tunes over Wi-Fi right from the Play-Fi app to speakers from DTS Play-Fi product partners. It's a huge step up from Bluetooth - the audio quality and reliability are outstanding, and you can enjoy music from your phone in one room, or all your rooms.

The "Hi-Fi over Wi-Fi" listening experience is just a touch away, thanks to this handy app. Choose a speaker, choose a song, and your favorite tunes are streaming all through the house.

The app offers built-in streaming options: stream from worldwide music services; use AM/FM and Internet radio, connect to DLNA servers, or play anything from your device's music library, including your iTunes playlists. The app automatically organizes and indexes the music for you.

The app also handles set-up for your speakers, and gives you full control of volume and speaker selection. Choose one, set up speaker groups, or stream to all of them at once. Manage speaker groups for Spotify Connect, too.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have a Play-Fi product from Polk Audio, Definitive Technology or Phorus, please search for and download the custom Play-Fi app for your audio brand.

Please also note that the Play-Fi app is companion software to audio products enabled with Play-Fi technology. It is not intended as a stand-alone audio player.

Flaky to the point of being unusable

Loses connections regularly. Ergonomics are terrible. Setup is cumbersome.

Server sources not searchable

In my application, where I have a vast library of local flac files, I can’t use this app. I’m stuck with inferior Bluetooth audio. Why? Because the app has no search feature for media servers. It’s not practical to scroll forever to find my tracks. Please integrate this functionality! I know I’m not alone here. Also, I should be able to pin my network location to the Home Screen so I can simply open the app and get right to where my music is without having to navigate down the folder hierarchy.

Enjoying Play-Fi?

Still glitchy.

Just Ok

I almost regret purchasing my streaming device that runs off Play-fi. It works well with Spotify Connect, but I am slowly switching to TIDAL…………there is NO tidal connect, so there is no artist bio/album info at all, and very hard to browse for new music etc. PLEASE IMPLEMENT TIDAL CONNECT!!!

NEED APP CONTROL TO SWITCH TO LINE IN

app is great but we need to be able to switch to LINE IN without going to the device and pressing the line in button

Awful flaky playback that’s affected by everything you do on your phone

JeffyMac2022 on

This whole setup is dreadful. I have a Paradigm PW800 that I bought so I wouldn’t be locked into a proprietary ecosystem like Sonos. First, despite all of the updates that promise increased responsiveness and stability, the app still takes forever to connect to the speaker, playback is frequently interrupted, and it repeatedly drops the connection to the speaker for no reason. The worst part, though, is the fact that my phone is basically useless whenever I’m trying to playback music, because if I do ANYTHING on it, it affects the playback from the speaker. I look something up on the Internet using Safari? Playback stops. I set a timer and it goes off? Playback stops. I make the mistake of trying to use Siri? Playback stops. It’s baffling and infuriating. I don’t understand why, if the speaker is connected to my Wi-Fi, it can’t be playing the music directly from my music server. But what is obviously happening, based on the behaviour of my phone, is the phone is relaying the music to the speaker. It just doesn’t work. More often than not, to get around this, I just plug my phone directly into the 3.5 mm jack on the speaker, and then at least that way playback doesn’t stop. Of course, I can’t use the phone when it’s plugged in like that, but then again, I can’t use my phone when it’s using the Play-Fi app either because it’ll make playback stop! So it works out the same! Oh, and if you pause the music ... it’ll be unable to resume playback and the only way to recover is to swipe the app away and reboot the speaker. Seriously? I could go on and on. But it is simply just awful.

Works Again!

Simplyclay on

Finally working with Spotify again thank you. Still having trouble with Sirius but it’s better. Almost jumped ship to Sonos which would have meant replacing 4 receivers but I’m relieved the fixes have come through.
