Syncing issues with phone and watch
Unfortunately I've had to stop using the app recently as it would pretty much always not sync correctly.
I listen to podcasts all day every day. I also listen via my watch when I run - nearly every day.
For the last few months when I get back from a run the app has not synced correctly. Pods that I've finished on my watch are shown as unlistened on the phone, and I have to mark them as done.
It became a pain.
I'm now using Overcast which is much better. Possibly not as intuitive to use, but more reliable for my needs.
So much better than Spotify or Apple
I’ve been listening to podcasts for a few years now and have used both Spotify, with its overload of ads, and Apple Podcasts, with its overly simplified UX. I can confirm Pocket Casts beats both of them!
Best cross platform podcast player
Also much easier to navigate than any other podcast app I’ve found, getting new episodes is extremely easy.
Recently disappointed
I have been a long time user of this app, for as long as I can remember. Howeever, the bugs and annoyances of the app recently suggest that (a) it is not being developed and optimised correctly, and (b) I will probably switch to a new app soon.
For example, for over a year on iOS it crashes twice every time it is loaded. It's absolutely crazy that this hasn't been fixed.
Playback Skipping but otherwise good
I’ve been using Pocket Casts for years and overall it is a good app. However i often experience an issue where the playback skips ahead a minute or 2 and then cuts the end off by the same amount. I thought this might be a problem caused at source but it happens on different podcasts so it must be a bug on the app itself.

It does everything I want. List view, badges for number of unplayed episodes per podcast.

Love the app but it is not staying up to date.
The app is great, definitely my favourite but… Several of the podcasts I listen to have stopped working. They say there are no new episodes but switching to Apple Podcasts show plenty of new ones available. Sadly, because of this I’ve had to switch back to Apples Podcast app.
Quality is slipping
Edit: I’ve increased a star because the latest update seems to have completely fixed all my crashing issues. I was almost ready to jump ship but it seems to be working well again now. Thanks team!

For a while now the quality of this app seems to have been slipping, with (for me) pretty constant bugs relating to starting and stopping podcasts playing. As well as skipping. The latest update is the worst though, the app is now constantly crashing completely rather than occasionally freezing as it did before. It’s the worst its ever been. This is a real shame as this used to be one of my favourite apps. As a software developer myself I would urge the team to invest in more quality control checks, automated tests and focus on bug fixes over new features for a while. I’m really close to giving up and switching apps after using Pocketcasts daily for several years.
