Overcast

Since the recent update podcasts fail to play or download. It has essentially become unusable.

Overcast has always been my favourite until the recent update. Now I can no longer press play on (any of) my headphones to start the next episode and, without that, I’m looking at other apps and considering cancelling my premium subscription. That’s a hygiene feature for me and I’m missing it every day.

I used to love this app, have over 100 subscribed podcasts and since the app have not been able to listen to any of them because they don’t download. Dreadful, if a fix isn’t posted soon I’ll have to jump ship.

Really great but the last update has gotten rid of the ability to queue podcasts - very annoying!

As they say if it ain’t broke don’t fix it and it wasn’t broken!? I had a very simple system that worked great - add to queue from my all episodes list what I wanted to listen to and then download/listen. That workflow is now much more difficult to do, in fact i can’t actually figure it to do it at present. Damn shame, was a great app which is why it gets a 2 star rating for prior usefulness. I’ll be switching sadly…

To whoever is in charge of the update: it’s a mess, I can’t use the app anymore, I delete podcasts while trying to remove episodes. How can you even make usability mistakes like these?

I switched to Overcast when the Apple Podcasts app stopped working for me. I have loved it for years but this latest update isn’t good. It seems to be less stable. A bunch of functionality is now less flexible or not as easy to get to. I suppose I won’t be switch away any time soon but show notes and sleep timers and the like were all a swipe away and now they are at least two clicks.

That’s it really, thanks, must have been a lot of hard work to make this. Love the new version!

I initially gave the app 5 stars but sadly a few days after installing the app for the first time, it started to behave very strangely with podcasts being removed randomly from my playlist. If I added them back some of them would be removed again at random times before I could listen to them. I have no idea why or how to fix this but it makes the app unusable for me.

Five star review for a five star app. One small thing. The manual ordering of the queue playlist seems to have disappeared with the recent update. Is it possible to resurrect this feature? It is so helpful to be able to structure my listening this way. Thanks!!!
