Mostly enjoyable articles with often an emphasis on the personal journeys players go through in overcoming injuries, overcoming poverty and hardships etc which I really like. However, there has been a nasty political element to some recent content (an article from ex-Guardian journalists Daniel Taylor for example was absolutely shocking and offensive) and if that kind of content continues I would absolutely cancel my subscription.
Best sports journalism you will find. From college football to premiere league, the staff is as good as it gets.
After painfully using ESPN’s clunky app for years, I finally called it quits and made the switch to The Athletic. This app has a better looking and responsive interface, quality articles, and active live blogs and chats for games. Should have made the switch years ago. Subscription is worth it IMO.
If you click a linked article from digital NYTimes and then get prompted to open the app, you get into a do loop of signing in and then can’t find the article you clicked from.

Crashes constantly on I-phone. Impossible to read a single article without re-loading multiple times. Disappointing for a paid site. Get the basics down!
Subscribed to The Athletic for years but just cancelled my subscription. Content changed slowly but significantly once The Athletic was purchased by the New York Times. Went from analytics and analysis to headlines and more ESPN.
