An all encompassing, handheld journey to new life
Please try it. A different way to relate to anxiety. The concept are easy to understand.
A systematic program with a supportive community to help you work thru anxiety.
As a 66 year old woman who has struggled on and off with mild to severe anxiety for the past 50 years I am finally hopeful that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I’m only on week two but have already noticed a decrease in anxiety. After the past two years of Covid I was finally finding myself increasingly anxious. When I had a health issue this summer I found myself in such an anxiety loop that I asked my gp for meds. I didn’t end up taking them, was able to settle down when I realized how my thoughts had created such a mess. I picked up Unwinding Anxiety at a bookstore I go to when I am travelling up and down the Island. It spoke to me immediately. Then I bought the audiobook so I could reinforce it even more. I then started the program and in the first week it has been so helpful, recognizing habit loops often make me stop to think several times in a day when I recognize what is going on. In the middle of the week I was feeling a little resistant, grumpy about some of the suggestions but dr. Jud said that was normal and I motored on and that feeling quickly passed. Long story short Unwinding Anxiety has given me hope that I may be able to spend my senior years on something besides anxiety. I am so grateful.
Unwinding Anxiety has been a game changer. As a lifelong anxiety addict I have been able to find simple tools to change. Thank you.
This app brings together a variety of exercises that support the science of anxiety, habit formation, and even some addiction research. Over the past 20 years of seeking to understand, and not be so controlled by my anxiety, I have used some of the exercises in this program, but not consistently. Each exercise, on their own, didn’t do enough to help me deal effectively with my Generalized Anxiety Disorder. This program brings them all together and even though I have only been using the app for two weeks, I am definitely seeing a decrease in my anxiety, an increase in self compassion and I am not so exhausted by the tension associated with living with anxiety. The tools and reminder notifications keep me on track. I am doing less emotional eating. The only problem I am having is that sometimes the daily lesson doesn’t get unlocked for me in the morning. I hope an update will fix this bug.
It’s expensive! When I signed up for the free program I understood I had access to the basic 30 day program without the bonus features and materials, which appeared to be access to a live community and one on ones with the author, among other things. Imagine my surprise, or should I say anxiety, when I was locked out of the 30 day basic program (which I admit I was enjoying) after the fourth day. Ironically, the module you are first blocked from is the one on being kind to yourself, which I suspect is achieved by paying for full access. That aside, I do realize you pay for many apps, and that is fine. But the app itself should have made the fact that only four days are free much clearer when you sign up. Before I learned of the app, I bought the book Unwinding Anxiety and it contains the same content for the most part for about $35. $259.00 is a lot of money for a year’s access to the app. Too much for me. I think I am most disappointed that it appears that a mental health professional who surely knows how people’s brains are likely to respond to being locked out once they have begun his carefully constructed “habit loop”has NOT thought to make the terms and conditions of the free trial very, very explicit in order to capitalize on your anxiety to get you to sign up for a very expensive app. For people who are low income seeking to support their own mental health this is a dirty trick.
I started the Unwinding Anxiety App when I was not in a good place,, I have followed it everyday and do practice some of the lessons and even go back over some to help get a better grasp of the material. It has helped significantly and I will go through the whole thing again and again.. Thank you Dr. Brewer and his team for putting so much time and effort into this app.
Though I had learned these concepts, the reminders and short practices are moving my knowledge toward wisdom. Gratitude.
Dr Brewer has done an amazing job explaining anxiety, how it arises in your brain, and how to stop it controlling your life.
