Greedy company. Do not recommend.
Xero is a pretty basic accounting software program, with easy enough to use features. My accountant likes it. But I am absolutely done with this company. They have absolutely no respect for their customers and continue to raise rates at an absurd rate. Since I started using them in July 2022, they have raised their prices 3 times (October 2022, October 2023, and will be again in July 2024), totaling an increase of $34/month in just two years for my specific plan. That’s $408 extra per year. But don’t worry, their stock is thriving. Goodbye greedy fools. Quickbooks and MYOB is looking real good right about now.
Hate this app
I cannot stress enough how annoying this app is. I don’t work at the fuxking pentagon. I don’t need 5 layers or security to upload a taxi receipt. They do stop shy of asking for your social security and making you do 50 burpees
so that’s good.
Buyer beware
While I have been with Xero for 10 years yiu should be warned that price increases are fairly constant. A few times a year. Example: they sponsored a football team and raised prices to cover it. It’s pretty gross. They add features and make all pay for it when most don’t need it. Just google it. It’s bad. If I had to start over I would choose another platform but I’m stuck.
Don’t download if you are iPad user
Downloaded almost all Xero apps on my iPad Pro, most of them don’t even have iPad version, and this specific app does have iPad version, however, there is no accounting options, you can’t even connect your bank on the dashboard page. Their expense on UI design is very concerning, I guess stay with big names like QuickBooks
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
I’ve had sever cases open with Xero for features they advertise like statement syncing and auto tax. These features aren’t working in my installation and they haven’t worked for over a year. Xero support reps reply with the most boilerplate answers I’ve ever seen. It’s infuriating. An AI chat bot could provide better answers. “Thanks for your patience while we look into this! We still have zero ETA but thanks!” It’s been a year… Seriously Xero staff if you read this. Fire your support manager and start over. I’ll never recommend this software again after these experiences with your support team.
Continuous Price increases
Xero does not grandfather you in. Beware, they continually raise prices to fund things like promotional business fund of $750K, sponsor football teams…
I would not recommend getting started with Xero for this reason. They are not small business friendly. Check the thread on Xero of all the price hike complaints and adding unnecessary additions for the small business.
Fantastic native app
This app is really good. Pretty, pleasant to use, clearly made with love and care for iOS rather than being cobbled together from some cross-platform framework. And it’s been getting even better over time!
Used to love service, but customer support is waning
One of the main features of this service is automated bank feeds, but unfortunately their vendor Yodlee is terrible and does not follow up on issues. Xero does not either to be honest. I have requested updates multiple times over a month and their responses are disingenuous. No one is really trying to get my issue fixed. Very frustrated, especially as I have brought them many customers. No more!
Great software. Below average app
I quite enjoy the software itself...on a desktop computer. Unless I'm missing something, the app lacks one of the most basic needs of a business owner--basic financial reports. I see no way to view an income statement, cash flow report, etc on the app. Desktop, no problem. App needs work. This seems almost unforgivable to be missing from a mature company like xero.
Notification don’t work
I’ve been using this app for over a year. It’s a decent app, but new transaction notifications have NEVER worked and support hasn’t bothered to do anything about it. Update: App notifications that new bank statements are available to reconcile. Every time I reconcile them in the app, the switch is turned off. Then I turn it on. Nothing happens. I go back in manually to reconcile new statements. The switch is off again. I turn it on. Repeat for a year. I’ve already submitted a detailed ticket about this. Update: CX0013169995
