If your BMW motorcycle is equipped with a TFT display and connectivity functions, simply connect to your motorbike via Bluetooth for this
Your BMW motorbike does not have a TFT display, but it does have a multicontroller and is equipped for a navigation system? Then simply get the ConnectedRide Cradle and transform your smartphone into a motorcycle display.

Notes for use.
• This app is part of BMW Motorrad Connectivity and can only be used when connected to a vehicle with a TFT display or the ConnectedRide Cradle. The connection is established wirelessly between a smartphone, the vehicle/Cradle and – if available – a communication system via Bluetooth; the app is operated using the multicontroller on the handlebars. We recommend using the BMW Motorrad communication system for listening to music, making telephone calls and receiving navigation instructions.
• A mobile Internet connection is required to access traffic information. This may incur costs in line with the contract between the customer and their mobile provider (e.g. for roaming).
• Please note that the functionality of your smartphone and the connection to the vehicle also depend on national requirements and factors; BMW Motorrad therefore cannot guarantee that it will be available at all times.
• The BMW Motorrad Connected app will be displayed in the language you have set for your smartphone. Please note that not all languages are supported.
• Continued use of GPS tracking in the background may reduce the battery life of your smartphone.

BMW Motorrad Connected Reviews

A pain

I would enjoy this app if it didn’t continually disconnect me and then fail to recognise my password. It’s getting to the stage where I just don’t bother with it.

It just never works

Good but needs to improve

I have not issue with the app. Maybe more videos to help explain how it works? iPhone 15+ user… I have to approve the connection between the phone and the bike which is annoying.

My Experience

I have two bikes - a 2023 GS 1250 and a 2024 K 1600 GTL, so have been using this app on both TFT sizes i.e. the 6” and the 10” - the 6” via the BT connection and the 10” via the WiFi connection and the BT connection as well. I use the app itself to provide a route between two places and like the ability to customise by selecting a winding/fast route to add interest. I also use MRA planner and import routes into the app after using the various customisation features in MRA. My experience so far with the app has been almost flawless, apart from some minor hitches getting connected to the bike WiFi on the GTL which I’ve been able to resolve quickly. I’ve not had any issues with the BT connection on the GS when using the app. So, whilst understanding that others may be experiencing issues with the app, I can say that from my personal experience and heavy use of this app, I have found it to be mostly reliable and enjoy the post ride information it provides from the recording feature. After many years using both a Nav 5 and Nav 6, I prefer the Connected app now. I’m sure that as the developers further work on the app it will get better and hopefully resolve the issues that others say they are experiencing. More regular map updates would be handy and a fix for the WiFi connectivity issues on the GTL would be useful.

Great app, however has a connection issue.

I have been using the app for four months now and ready enjoy using it. On three occasions now the app has lost blue tooth connection to the bike and the screen just goes black. It easily re-connects when I stop and re-start the bike. This does reduce confidence in what is otherwise a brilliant app, especially when navigating through major cities. If not for that one issue, I would have given it a five star review.

Dangerously Unreliable.

BMW stubbornness on their own navigation+media system is not new. They tried to force people out of CarPlay on cars and had customers backlash. Unfortunately the Motorrad customers have less say… maybe matter of time! I have a R18 Transcontinental with the beautiful 10 inch TFT display! What a machine. That said, my iPhone pro max is too big to stay in the housing on top of the fuel tank. Have to put it in the top box with a usb charger. The wifi connection has never persisted longer than half of an entire ride. Sometimes in 2 mins it drops off and never comes back again. For unknown routes I have to pull over, kill the app; try to reconnect. Worst experience ever! The navigation itself is not great, clunky is a total waste of the wonder wheel and the beautiful hardware! Please: enable CarPlay! Your business is machines not apps!

Outdated maps

Maps of Sydney NSW are years out of date. Extremely inconvenient and disappointing.

App only seems to work with the TFT screen latest bikes, no connection with earlier models…

Still needs work - carplay please

Brettcathome on

I can see the why if the app but the flow just doesn’t work. You must remember to start sharing the map (casting) before it’s of value. Then nothing else works whilst the map is cast to the bike. We have been trained to a CarPlay experience and this doesn’t compare. Also searching for addresses when you have a big contact list means the destination search is unusable. The goal always was allow what my phone knew to be used on the bike. Contact details, call history, previous destinations and all that history and data depth is not lost because the app doesn’t leverage it.
