The best note taking apps
Being the user of Simplenote, Obisidan and Standard Notes I can say Craft is by far the best. So beautiful editor, so many options - yet simple enough. I love it and can warmly recommend it as a daily driver.

After trying so hard to build second brain with Apple Notes it was the backlinking eventually became a mandatory feature it was missing. Notion UX/UI felt like it was from the 90’s and the access friction made it clunky. Capable for sure but clunky. While Craft would benefit from Notion style database properties it’s not a deal breaker as the backlinking exists. There’s few types of linking methods that increase flexibility. As a native app the access speed compares to Apple Notes meaning that the idea to writing speed is comparable. It does not recuire weeks of tuning to start adding value. Daily planning is easy as OS linked calendars will show in the app(!). Workflow to many notes apps exists via share functionality (not Apple reminders though). Easy to build a workflow to personal liking. And the UX/UI. It’s so easy to tune and visually pleasuring 🤩
Great notekeeper that allows for personalized styling. Only drawback, is that some components can sometimes make my Mac freeze for a moment.
An addition of tables would be great for example. Finally found a worthy notes app that also has great UI/UX, but there are still some features that are lacking, which other apps have.
Different from most note-taking software developed by web. Craft is the best interactive app I have ever used.

Craft is an excellent notes, productivity, and AI writing app. However, like most apps, it has room for improvement, particularly regarding its AI models. The local AI features are impressive, but it would be beneficial to include more modern models, such as Qwen 3 with 0.6B parameters for local processing, or Llama 3.3. For cloud-based AI, while Craft already offers GPT-4o, this model feels somewhat dated now. Adding Claude 3.5 Haiku or Claude Opus 4 would be valuable upgrades. Alternatively, if sticking with OpenAI, o4-mini would provide a fast, intelligent, and cost-effective option. Beyond AI capabilities, Craft's interface is stylish and well-deserving of its App Store Design Award. If you want an alternative to Apple's built-in Notes app, or if you don't have a newer iPhone with Apple Intelligence but still want AI-powered note-taking, Craft is an excellent choice.
I recently switched over Notion. I have been a long time Notion user but it has become too commercial and enterprisy. So far I like the Craft experience.
I enjoyed the look and capabilities of this app and wanted to try out. Was told it was a week for trial then payment starts. I just got an alert from my card saying I was charged for $95.99 a year. Requesting refund so I can at least try the product. Thanks!
It took a while to figure out how I wanted to set it up but once I did it really did make things systematized so that I can think document and create. I’m an Apple fan girl too and this gobs of Apple vibes.
