It’s easy with the IKEA Home smart 1 app and TRÅDFRI gateway. Use one setting for early morning lighting and music, another for late evenings and a third for cooking or working at home.
You can dim, turn off, turn on, change colours and switch from warm to cold light. Raise or lower blinds. Turn on your music – then turn it up, turn it down or pause it. And you can even control your air purifier to improve the air quality at home.
With the IKEA Home smart 1 app, you can also connect to Apple Home, Amazon Alexa or Google Home and control it all with your voice.
What you’ll get with the IKEA Home smart 1 app and TRÅDFRI gateway:
• The ability to control your lights and blinds from the app
• The ability to turn audio on and off, pause it and control volume
• Customisable settings, including changing the position of blinds, light colours and choosing warm or cold light
• Timers with morning and evening options
• The ability to turn your air purifier on and off, and set it to a fan speed that suits the needs of your home

Absolute nightmare to get anything paired with the hub
Had 4 tradfri gu10 lights connected in the kitchen with a round remote, worked flawlessly.
Moved to a new house, a had the terrible idea of buying the same lights to the whole house.
Remotes are now square and I cannot get them to pair with the hub, its an absolute nightmare although I am following strict guidance as per app.
Tried to connect some lights without remote..some work , some dont regardles of how much time you waste on this.
Its just not worth the hassle.
Other companies sell their products at the same price point and make it straightforward, doesnt have to be rocket science.
Would returned them if I could.
Still Rubbish
Pairing doesn’t work to hub unless adding a device via app simultaneously! New sensors added to new groups unintentionally and can’t be moved to another group. Please fix this unintuitive processes to add and sack the guy who decided sensors can’t be moved to another group!
Not connecting to apple homekit
Will not connect to HomeKit, looks like it is loading/searching but does not pop up to scan the HomeKit connection code
Update has broken tunnel
This app used to support using a vpn tunnel into the hub's local network from a cellular 3G/4G/5G connection. Now the app *demands* that the phone is connected to wifi, and won't connect to the hub without it. Please support hub connection without wifi again - this worked great a few months back.
Fine when it works
Driving me round the bend trying to reconnect a group of lights that I had to reset after they went out of colour sync.
Finds some of the bulbs and then cannot pair with the next (six in total for one remote). Then it pairs without acknowledging it and the rest of the paired lights don’t respond.
Going for take six this evening before I lose the will to live.
When it works it is super good. But the set up is laborious and buggy to say the least.
Rubbish
Bulbs constantly drop from app
Lights work better now but blinds still unreliable
I am pleased to report that many problems with lights have been fixed. Thanks for that! However, there are still some serious bugs with Fyrtur blinds. For instance, when one of my blinds plays up (every few months) and I have to remove and reinstall it (several times, takes about 3 hours) the blind shows up ok in HomeSmart1 Settings and in Updates but then that info is not recognised on the IKEA MyHome page. The blind doesn’t pair with my remote either. Therefore, it cannot be operated at all. I guess the hardware gets worn out but eventually the buttons tend to respond. It is no reason for the software not to operate properly. Please can you look into it? Sadly, neither customer support nor the IKEA shop can deal with such software problems.
Zagrab-???
The program developers don’t know where is Budapest, or Hungary.
Zagrab is good for them….
Logs you out once a month
Ffs why disconnect every time there’s an upgrade!
Sort it out! It’s light bulbs not missiles!
Unreliable and Glitchy
Poorly constructed interface. Works sometimes, not others. Cheap but infuriating.
