Why is Auto not in HomeKit?
If only Tado exposed more of the settings to HoneKit like Auto mode for AC. My Tado app does have Auto, but it’s not in HomeKit even though HomeKit does support Auto mode, but in this case Tado chose not to implement it. Probably to give users a reason to stick with the app since that’s how they get your usage data and hopefully reel you in for a subscription. If Tado really wanted to cater to its users it wouldn’t do this and instead implement other controls like swing control that a typical AC remote has instead of just the very basic ones. That way they have a legitimate excuse why those other features aren’t present in HomeKit because Apple doesn’t currently support them. Auto is such a low-hanging fruit that it’s obvious what Tado’s intentions here are. Similar competing solutions like Sensibo does rely on your usage data to sell and subscription as well, but they don’t withhold features like Auto from HomeKit. This alone is making me consider going with Sensibo going forward.
