Trainline Reviews

Refund nightmare

Finbar Berkon on

Australia

Paid £85 for UK train tickets, trains were cancelled due to Storm Darragh, but no refunds. Edit: Tried to follow link from developer response, which redirected me in circles, still with no refund. Reduce to 1 star. They’re happy to take my money, but redirect me to the carrier for a refund. Should have just booked with the carrier directly. Edit 2: After someone from Trainline reached out to me directly in response to this review, they helped me get a refund. That’s still an unacceptable amount of hoops to jump through for a clearly warranted refund. I should have been able to request it in the app.

Easy and transparent

The app is an improvement on older web based booking versions. Clear and transparent with up to date times. Integrated system is much better than digging around individual train cos.

Bad For Foreign Trains

Aussie-girl 2 on

Australia

make sure that you have your station names correct if booking a foreign country, as it is very easy to book incorrect train station in Germany. I booked $400 1st class train tickets and found I booked Friedburg instead of Freiberg and no exchange was allowed. I ripped up the tickets because I couldnt even give away to anyone because no name change is allowed. Great way to treat tourists

Virtually Nonexistent Customer Service

JohnnySiins on

Australia

Had an issue with the app where the date was changing to the following day after selecting date/time. Made a couple bookings and realised after the fact it was changing dates, paid a change fee on the first thinking it was user error after realising. Sent a screen recording showing the issue very clearly, issue acknowledged by the team but almost 2 months of running around still with no resolution.

Trainline App - Useless

Neil AU on

Australia

Installed the app and created a password. Password is not saved by the Trainline app to my iPad passwords, so I requested a link to reset the password. Created a new “strong” password and took a screenshot of it this time. Logged in with my username and the screenshotted password, but Trainline didn’t recognise it. Deleted the app and went to write a review, but the Apple App Store wouldn’t let me write a review as the app was no longer on my iPad. I had to reinstall the app just to write this review. I will once again delete the Trainline app once my review had been accepted by the Apple App Store.
