Couchsurfing Travel App

This is an amazing app. I had great experiences staying with people also made a lot of friends all around the world. It is safe and easy to use.

Everytime I have tried to use this app it lags to the point that I can’t even use it. What a disappointing waste of a few bucks.

The purpose of couchsurfing was a non capitalist service but since it went paid people left

I was a couch surfer years ago. As I’m planning several long roadtrips, I thought I’d rejoin the community. I paid the $14.99 annual subscription without hesitation. Then the problems began. I’ve tried to verify my email 3 times now - each time I have not received an email from Couchsurfing. I thought I’d verify my identity - last time they charged $1 to your card, then reimbursed it. Now they want $60, with no reimbursement - I declined. I’ve checked out several locations and found thousands of hosts - only to find they’ve not been active for a dozen years or more. When you filter out those with a ‘shared space’ (read-shared bed), and only those accepting guests - then those active in the last few months, your 4,000 hosts quickly reduce to 1 or 2, most often it’s zero. I won’t bother asking for my $ back as they can’t even be bothered to auto-reply to my email for verification. But I did cancel my renewal. The lack of hosts can be attributed to COVID, but the greed and unresponsiveness of those who run this app cannot. Keep the $ - I’ll keep looking for a better, more friendly community for traveling.

I only wish there wasn‘t a 14 day limit for refrences.

Used to be a great service. Now there is a weird chat feature with socially inept people wanting to ‘hang out’ but unable to communicate or make plans properly. Most of the accounts have been inactive for years and folks who regularly go on the app still inevitably turn down even very well thought out personalized requests to stay because they are busy. Not the world it used to be. Oh and the app regularly glitches, freezes, and shuts down. Glad I pay money for it to work worse than it did years ago!

It’s real But you didn’t see that much of people you paid to see a few people Just in the application

They “humbly ask for a donation” but won’t let you access the app without actually paying at this point.

You cannot access, nor bypass the screen asking for monthly/yearly contributions.
