Apple Books

Since updating my phone, the new double-tap bookmark method is driving me NUTS. The way it will randomly bookmark with the slightest touch is SO annoying. Please fix or go back to the way it was!!!

Thoughtless design, overall degradation. Terribly slow, glitchy, buggy. A previously good app ruined by iOS 16.

Used to read books on here all the time, but now that scrolling is not working (closes app and cannot switch books) I find little use for it. It’s locking up and you can’t switch books either.

This is not an improvement. The new design is awkward and annoying. The bookmark feature does not always work. You have to continuously close out the app and reopen it so that you may actually mark that page by touching the bookmark icon. Also, before, I only had to reach up with my finger to mark it. Now I have to open the new thing, (which is placed annoyingly down at the bottom right where I have to try to reach it with my thumb without dropping my phone, as most people are right handed, this is likely not just my problem) and then hope the bookmark works. I dislike all of the changes. I should not have to open something to see how far I’ve read in the book. I miss the line that ran down the side in the right margin area. NOBODY ASKED FOR THIS.

I am also one of many users who is displeased with the updates to the apple books app. The new page turn animation is clunky, ugly, and headache inducing, and an insult to the old one that captured the wonder of reading. I find this new card shuffle animation extremely grating and it has pushed me to picking new apps to use to read. Aside from that the tiny menu button is virtually useless in its unreadability. Apple books was previously one of my most used apps and it’s now unfortunately ruined.

This app used to be perfect! The update has ruined a perfectly good app. Now it’s not any better than the Kindle app. Page turning is clunky. There is no longer an easy way to exit the book and return to your library. The search function is now useless. There are just too many problems to list. The solution is to restore the functionality of the previous version.

This was a good app and I have several books that I would read frequently. I guess since the last update now it just locks up and will not scroll to the next page and when you click on the context button it won’t load and the kick out of the screen.

Was the most recent update tested? I can no longer go to various book chapters via the TOC. Also, highlighting has become arduous, cumbersome, and frustrating.

Why don’t the audiobooks have chapter titles? I have no idea what part of the book I’m on, it just says “Track 1”, “Track 2”, etc.
