Degoo: Online Cloud Storage

Interface is nice and easy to use. But app has horrible upload speed, won’t continue automatically after starting the app again. Uploading freezes constantly. Why upload queue is not visible so cancelling uploading would be possible?

I bought a lifetime 10TB licence and uploaded thousands of my photographs in order to have them safely backed up in the cloud. I also backed up some documents from my computer. Suddenly out of the blue some months later I got a message that my account would be deleted due to having uploaded copyright material. They listed some mp3 files I didn’t know I had uploaded and when I investigated it turned out some years ago I had legally acquired those files and they had inadvertently been included in the uploads. Degoo has an insanely strict terms of use that forbids backing up such files. When I contacted their support in hope of not losing all my backed up pictures they confirmed they do not allow any copyrighted material even if you have a legitimate right to it. This makes no sense. All material, including my thousands of photos carry implicit copyright. So their terms of use allow them to delete any account they choose at any time. They told me that they would leave my account but the material I uploaded by accident was gone. Fair enough except they then deleted my account anyway. You have no rights under their terms. In short, they take your money and steal it and your material. Use at your own peril.

The app is OK. I am still exploring it but over all I satisfied, considering that I am looking for iCloud alternative. ;) Which is not an easy standard to achieve. But it seems Degoo is offering something good.

I backed up my iMac 2TB disk to Degoo, which took a week (!) and for a while backing up any new files worked as expected, albeit very slowly and taking huge amounts of processing power from the Mac. Then Degoo behaved as my backup had completely disappeared and started uploading everything from scratch. Another week went by uploading the content and once it finished everything seemed to be ok again for a short while. Then it stopped backing up any new files claiming that I'm way over my quota and using 4TB of space, even though the disk I'm backing up is only 2TB. I tried to remove ~200 GB a couple times using the web UI but that didn't have any effect on the space I was supposedly using, even though I waited for weeks to see the results. Then I gave up and removed everything and suddenly the space got released. Most of the content I had deleted was still visible in the web the next day, though. Now I would just want to remove all my content but regardless of how many times I try to remove the documents and photos, they keep reappearing. I wish I wouldn't have wasted my time on Degoo, and I'm really sad I wasted my money.

A very handy app to save all your files and important docs, for example when changing to another phone!!! Absolutely a 5-star app!

Jossainhan se tuntuu, nyt lähinnä kirpaisee, kun ostin kerralla reiluummin tilaa. Mobiiliappi toimii vain kuvien tallennukseen, tiedostoja ei voi selata, joten rinnastus muihin pilvipalveluihin on väärin ja harhaanjohtavaa. Läppärin varmuuskopiona toimii, pilvipalveluna ei niinkään!

I bought a lifetime subscription years ago and judging by the reviews here they have slowed down to a crawl my service or zero maintenance is performed. I have managed to save photos that took weeks to upload. Every single time (no exaggeration) I open the app on my computer or my phone I get error messages that my files can’t load. I guess since I only paid once I’m not a priority. They sold me a service I can’t use. I got scammed.

You idiots have deleted all my files. I am deeply sorry for putting my trust into your service. You took away all my precious memories

They delete your data with no reason!!! After years I auto uploaded all my files, they delete everything!!!! I not recommend this app there are a lot of cloud storage apps better than this…

they deleted all of my videos and photos that I backed up and now have no way of getting them back. i’m very frustrated and disappointed that they just deleted everything if you don’t use the app enough.
