• 2024 Pick: Best Meditation App by Healthline, The New York Times Wirecutter, Vogue, and Sports Illustrated
Well-being is a skill that can be learned. We’re here to guide you along the way.
Backed by four decades of research from world-renowned neuroscientist Dr. Richard Davidson and the team at Healthy Minds Innovations & the Center for Healthy Minds at the University of Wisconsin—Madison, the Healthy Minds Program trains your mind through meditation and podcast-style lessons to develop skills for gaining focus, reducing stress, and maintaining positive social connections.
Research with the Healthy Minds App showed that just 5 minutes a day of practice leads to a 28% reduction in stress, an 18% reduction in anxiety, a 24% reduction in depression, and a 13% increase in social connection.
Featuring our scientific Awareness, Connection, Insight, and Purpose, Well-being Framework, the Healthy Minds Program is a holistic, all-encompassing meditation app that offers the best of both guided meditations and opportunities to learn. You’ll learn simple skills to enhance personal well-being, build healthy relationships, and improve communication, performance, and creativity.

What makes us unique?
Developed from Science:
While many meditation apps can claim the scientific benefits of meditation, our practices are developed directly from neuroscientific research. You’ll also hear from the world’s foremost neuroscientists about neuroplasticity and how to train your mind.
Made for Busy Lives:
Our app features active meditation practices that fit into your busy lifestyle. Don’t have time to sit for 20 minutes? Put on an active practice and train your mind while you fold the laundry.
Guided by Measurement:
Thanks to our pioneering scientific research, the Healthy Minds Program offers the first mobile mental and emotional well-being assessments. Learn about your current level of well-being and contribute to cutting-edge research on the science of well-being. Our app also integrates with Apple Health to track your mindful minutes.
Goes Beyond Mindfulness:
Our guided path offers step-by-step instructions for becoming more present in the moment and developing a sense of purpose, meaning, and connection in life.
Driven by Mission and Supported by Donation:
The Healthy Minds Program is made possible by our donors, who support our vision of a kinder, wiser, more compassionate world. Unlike other apps that require a subscription, the Healthy Minds Program is available by donation, driven by a mission to translate science into tools to cultivate and measure well-being.

I started learning a meditation in 1971 and have gone on different retreats and learned different styles and techniques. My preferred practice is Zen but I also have a Catholic tradition of Meditation. So when I heard about this app, I thought I’d give it a try just to see what it had to offer and if I could possibly recommend to other people who are looking for ways to begin or improve their meditation practice. And I have to say I’m quite impressed by what I’ve experienced after two months of using it every day. Solid information, I would say it is a kind and gentle approach. You can modify this to your needs or just let the program/App lead you through. I’ve been recommending this to my friends. I learned about it through a podcast so if you want to find out more, look up Healthy Minds on a podcast search. Peace.
Awesome meditation app
Love the guided meditations on the app and also love the learning sessions that are sprinkled in.
Healthy Minds
I find I am looking forward to learning and doing the meditations each day. The voice is calm and encouraging. Definitely a good way to start the day.
Happy with options regarding length of meditations
I don’t have time for 10 minutes during the day- sad i know- but being able to reset for a couple of minutes is useful to me
Mindfulness is a practice
Having realized the turmoil in my own mind and my inability to relax, I needed to try something new. The practice of mindfulness is beginning to allow me to slow down my racing mind and actual focus on one thing at a time. My focus is better but as an added benefit, I can actually wind my mind down to enable me to relax (even a single minute of true tuning out reaps rewards in my day). This app is simple and yet completely opens the door to growth in my practice!
Well designed
VERY well put together resource with great design and UI/UX interface
Brilliant introduction to start things off
I’ve explored many different meditation apps and this one has by far the best opening content to assist the user in getting started. Bravo!
Credible science freely available
As a health care chaplain who cares for patients, families, and beleaguered healthcare staff, this app is my first and best recommendation. Their research in the mindfulness field is the highest available quality. Finally, altruism matters to the app creators: the app is freely distributed. I can recommend it to people who don’t have money to use an app. I’m a better human because I use this app. I donate to this organization. If you benefit from this app, I hope you’ll donate, too. People need this material.
This seems useful
Over the last year I’ve developed a meditation practice, with Buddhist guidance.
This presents many of the same points in a very clear manner. I intend to bring it into my practice.
Good!
I love the program, however, I wish there was an option to turn off the "learn" portion of the practices as they are unhelpful to me. I have to go through and manually skip through to get to the practice & if I don't it counts as unlistened.
