I’ve been having problems with viewing footage on the app for over a month now; each time I log in it says “device offline” when my device is clearly online and recording to the DVR. I’ve tried deleting and downloading the app again, resetting, using both WiFi, and mobile data, but nothing seems to work. Customer support is completely unhelpful - They just advised to contact my installer as apparently they don’t support end-users. My installer doesn’t know why the app has suddenly stopped working, so I have no way of monitoring when I am not home. Had I know customer support was this rubbish, I’d have gone with a different brand of CCTV.

The app keeps crashing every hour and it’s not a great experience to use this app and not have any other app that I can use for my camera’s. There is no way to contact support team about this issue too.

Since updating the HIK App yesterday we’ve not received any PIR notifications. (iPhone user)

Constant error message- 404 so I can’t share. I have to add manually ten times per day.

Like most digital CCTV systems, this unit relies on software to control it. I feel that these units could benefit from having a gesture control equivalent of a jog/shuttle dial, as that feels like the missing piece in navigating CCTV footage, where a difference of being able to access a specific frame could make the difference between a conviction or not.

For the past 3 years, CLEAR or HD could be set as the default, with no resources problems now we have to change this from SD for all our 15 cameras. Also I now have to activate all the cameras individually.

For general viewing of the cameras on your DVR, once set up it works nicely. However rearranging cameras is not possible, they do not stay in their new order. The settings are not all easy to find, or clearly marked. Sharing cameras can be done from the app which is great, but changing permissions once shared does not always work. Buttons/arrows on the screen are not consistently in the same place, and are often too small to easily spot, such as the save icon if your changing a user’s permissions, it’s very small and positioned by the battery icon, so very hard to spot & use! There is no easy way to skip between events on the app, even though they are clearly marked, unlike in the events manager on the DVR, which seems a missed opportunity. Overall it’s very useful, but not as easy to use as it looks.

Can’t do playback cause of extended number of streaming channels even tho it’s just me trying to watch!!

Presets for my 3rd party PTZ camera connected via the ONVIF protocol are now not working when they used to before this current update. Please fix this in the next update! It’s really annoying!
