Imaging Edge Mobile allows images/videos to be transferred to a smartphone/tablet, enables remote shooting, and provides location information to images captured by a camera.
■ Transfer images from a camera to a smartphone
- You can transfer images/videos.
- The selection and transfer of images after shooting are no longer needed as the automatic background transfer function allows images to be transferred to a smartphone as they are captured. *1
- High bit rate video files including 4K can be transferred. *2
- You can view and transfer images in your camera from your smartphone even when the camera is turned off. *2
- After transferring, you can immediately share your high quality images on social networks or through email.

■ Remote shooting of a camera using a smartphone
- You can capture photos/videos remotely while checking the live view of a camera on a smartphone. *3
This is convenient for capturing night views or water flowing scenes which need long-exposure, or macro shooting in which you need to avoid to directly touch the camera.
*3 Models that support PlayMemories Camera Apps can use this feature by installing "Smart Remote Control" (in-camera app) on your camera in advance.

■ Record location information
- With cameras that have a location information linkage function, the location information acquired by the smartphone can be added to the captured image in your camera.

Almost all features don't support a7r iii
I should have checked this before spending so much money on the a7r iii. I'm a solo traveler and with canon it was so easy to take pics of myself.
Here the app is horrible, constantly disconnecting, you can change settings or use focus and you definitely can't set a timer. One of the new and most advanced Sony cameras cannot be controlled by phone is absolutely absurd.
Unfortunately there are no alternative apps and I might just go back to canon. This app which should provide whoever shoots themselves a solution, does nothing.

Absolutely useless! Unstable. Cannot link to GPS with iPhone. Crashes when trying to connect to WiFi. Remote control with Bluetooth is a nightmare. Consider yourself lucky if you manage to transfer pictures from the camera to iPhone. Shame on you Sony!!!

After upgrading the camera firmware the application can connect as remote control (somewhat tricky, tough possible) however yet it is not working at all for GPS link between the iPhone and the camera.
If you think that GPS tag is important (like I do), this is a major drawback

The app doesn’t work!!
The app doesn’t work since the update!!!it is useless..was really nice and comfortable before.
Used it a lot before but since the last update it is really not responding.
I can’t transfer anything
I payed an insane amount of money for this camera only because of the option to transfer pictures directly to my phone. And with this update nothing is working!
This application never was the best one, but now it is useless. It was so easy to transfer pictures before.
Also there’s no way to choose Israel in region settings and play memories application is not available in israeli App Store (i had to choose another country to download it previously).

For some reason after i upgraded to latest iphone version the app can’t connect any mote. It keeps writing network connection error. It only with this app
