It’s a nice app and seems to have some useful insights but the UI is quite busy. I wish it was a bit more simplified and use friendly like the “Summary/Favourites” tab in Apple health. Also when I come back to the app after not using it for a few hours, I have to scroll and scroll to return to the top of the tab. Some apps allow you to tap on the tab again and it pops you to the top. In general I think the app is nice and useful but I think it just needs some UI improvements to make it more user friendly. Take the summary screen for example; the first thing you see is a long paragraph, then 4 basic looking tiles, then a bunch of little tiles, then a graph and then a huge disclaimer. If all of these were replaced with rectangular tiles that were all the same size and had enough info to get the point across but not so much that it’s not glanceable, then it would be a very good UI. Then you can click on each tile to get more detailed information. I dunno, it just seems like a slightly unsatisfying UI to use and every time I look at it I feel that it’s either too bland or too busy depending on which part I’m looking at. I’ve been using it for a while now and all my initial thoughts still stand but I have some additional thoughts. The app ALWAYS tells me to workout. I’ve been hammering my body and I think it would be wise to have a rest day but this app just constantly tells me to workout. It doesn’t seem very smart to me. It actually seems pretty useless. Yes my HRV might be good and I might have slept well but if I have been working out every day for the past 5 days then MAYBE I should have a rest day? The app needs better logic.
Athlytic uses data collected by your Apple Watch to provide trends and insights. All data is kept and analysed on device so no data is shared with third-parties. I would never not skip a training session because an app suggested to take it easy - however being able to look back on long-term trends provides me with insight into how my training effects my sleep and recovery and how outside factors have a positive or negative impact on my overall health and well being. The app is being actively developed with well written guides and an active user community.
New designed apple widget on the Apple Watch is terrible. I can’t now see what my recovery % (all it shows is 4…) is at now due to the newly poorly designed Widget. The bar the wraps around the watch face doesn’t fit and cuts off. Making it untidy and has ruined the seamless partnership that the app had with Apple Watch. Seriously disappointing and should be fixed immediately.
The quest for 8 hours of sleep is annoying. I don’t think I’ve slept longer than 7 hours more than a couple of times in the last year, so adding sleep debt for an unattainable goal is just annoying. It would be great to be able to adjust our target time sleeping. As it is, it doesn’t seem to really take into account differences between people in this area.
Update: Prompt and responsive feedback from the developer resolved this by asking me to clear the exertion cache and resyncing Apple Health data. I was not aware of this option in the More tab. Still a bit frustrating but not the fault of the app as it relies on Apple Health data which can be updated after initial receipt. However, perhaps this could be made clearer and more intuitive within the applicable sections of the app versus or in addition to the Settings page. Exertion should be updated for days past if the Workout data is updated for those days. My cycling workouts do not get detailed HR data from Zwift or Strava. I can get it from Garmin Connect but only if I go to that app and view it, then refresh the screen. If I then go to Athlytic I can update it there by refreshing the screen. If that’s on the same day, Exertion is updated. If I forget and do it the next day or later I can still get detailed HR data in a past Workout in Athlytic by refreshing the screen in the app. But the daily Exertion score won’t reflect it. That makes my calendar view somewhat worthless.
The developer(s) are extremely committed and have been making regular thoughtful improvements. I hope they add an AI coach and nap tracking soon.
been using this app for a while, but recently the battery feature just makes no sense. it ' loses' charge overnight now all of the sudden despite no changes to my lifestyle. so the app is glitching, not me. the new battery sensitivity settings aren't explained well either. tldr - battery function used to work fine, now for me it's obviously broken
Complications and watch app seemingly have a ton of connection and updating issues. Every few updates it gets buggier until recently it no longer works on my watch. I don’t need the app otherwise. Annoyed!
