Mixed feelings - app is nice enough but not worth the price

helen1351 on

I have been using this app for a few months now and it has helped me develop some healthy habits from scratch. For example - I strength train, eat a portion of berries, and do some deep breathing every day (I did none of these before the app). These habits have really stuck and the psychology of the app is great for this - little habits, you can miss a day but not two (so it's not all or nothing), you get nice visual and tactile feedback to get the little dopamine hit. That said - this is really all the app offers and there are other apps that provide similar. This app is not as great as it appears to think it is when compared with other similar apps. The streaks app, for example, offers a lot of this functionality for free. I am very happy to pay for apps and I do not think that app developers should work hard and not get paid what they're worth. But the price feels ludicrous - and there are no staggered price points. I feel the team must surely lose money from this. There are many people who would gladly pay a smaller amount but who will not pay this. I actually did pay for a while but when considering my available budget I ended up cancelling my monthly subscription even though I would have continued it if it was cheaper. It also feels a little buggy especially since the recent display update. The haptic feedback seems hit and miss when completing a habit. I also liked the previous floating circles. The order of the habits seems to change haphazardly. I liked the repeatability of the old style which reinforced the repetitive nature of the habits. TLDR - the app is good and nice to use but it is mooching off the brand awareness imo. It is not as good as it thinks it is. The price point is crazy and the functionality doesn't justify it imo.

Good but not worth subscribing (yet) imo

It’s been a helpful app so far but essentially its just a daily to-do list which can be achieved using a calendar app or bullet journal. Hopefully we see some improvements in the future. Here’s what I’d love to see: 1. If I write the same identity for 2 or more habits, it doesn’t recognise that it’s the same identity. So the votes don’t add up and in the reflections section, the same identity is listed multiple times. Very surprising to see this. Surely it’s expected that we may have to develop multiple new habits to form our identity? So I’d love to see a way we can link our habits to existing identities. 2. We can only log day/time based identities. No mention of habit stacking or any of the other great concepts from the book! E.g. if I want to become a tidier person, I might want to put away laundry as soon as it’s ready to be put away, but this won’t always be the same day/time. 3. The replace a bad habit option isn’t any different to creating a new habit so I don’t understand the purpose of this. The sentence structure is exactly the same. Also, as I mentioned in point 2, replacing a bad habit might not always be day/time based, as they’re dependent on other conditions. It could be ‘whenever I feel like having an unhealthy snack’ or ‘any time I need to travel anywhere X miles or less, I will walk instead’. 4. Looking at the free version and subscription comparison table, a maximum of 6 habits can be created which isn’t enough. It would be good to unlock more habits if we achieve a level of votes. A good way to gamify the app.

Very practical tool

O'JulAnn87 on

Atomic habits is an amazing tool that really shifted my perspective on how I progress with my life goals in the many facets of my life. Having this app as a practical tool to accompany the principles learned in the book is priceless. It’s worth the investment. Brings things to life.

Confusing

Angus1242 on

I cannot understand how to make a record of the daily habit. I’ve clicked on everything and nothing happens!

Great idea but app buggy

Dr C3po on

Hopefully this will get better over time - maybe give it a go a year or so from now when they have had a chance to iron out all of the bugs.Twice the app has reset my goal now. Seems more like at beta stage rather than general release. Gave it two stars as nice UI and easy to record (when it works).

Best habit support, but make the app better

FriendlySpirograph on

By far the most thoughtful, mindful and gentle way to develop good habits over long periods of time that I’ve found. That said, app could use more work! - Please add dark mode, - new Home design isn’t really better, the floating circles were fun and I miss them. Current large view is too large.. - more widgets, - prevent accidentally checking them off via widgets, or give ability to quickly undo an accidental trigger, - complications for Apple Watch

Good app but outrageous price

Fatty McGurk on

I had this a trial user and it was really pretty good and easy (& motivating) to use but suddenly they wanted a LOT of money to use it which, as many others have said, seems particularly greedy. Happy to pay for good apps but not this much.

I’m a big fan of atomic habits but

Moe2013333 on

This pro version is insanely expensive for what is just a reminder. £10 per month is ludicrous.

Great app, crazy price

Nibras I on

Wonderful app. Well done to the team who designed it, it’s a real pleasure to use. It is, unfortunately, priced at a crazy level. I’ve never seen an app charge so highly; considering how limited the functionality actually is the asking price is a deal-breaker. I hope they adjust it to something more accessible and realistic.

Excessive

Эллэ on

Excessive reflections and suggestions. It’s so annoying reflections and suggestions keep popping up. I have been using the app over a month and half, i find it annoying extra pop up screen when i complete habit. Habit circle is too big
