I am a big fan of Beorg. To start you can just use it as a simple todo list but it offers so much functionality that you can shape it to whatever you want. For example, I was able to create a kanban board using the powerful sorting and grouping tools in search. Like emacs, this app offers a lot of power.
As a emacs user I have been waiting for a good org mode integration app. This does exactly that and more. You don’t have to be an emacs user to use this. It’s very simple and connects to your calendars so you can have a central place for the agenda.
I use emacs and orgmode. The whole point of orgmode is that all TODOs are pulled out from wherever they are. If you've been using orgmode for any length of time you're going to have nested folders. As Beorg does not support recursive folders it's a non-starter for me, which is a shame as it looks a great app.
The app makes a wonderful organization tool. I just wish the developers would create a macOS version so that I can stay organized across all my devices - a key feature of any organization tool is that it is available on whatever device you are on right now.
It has good features and is easy to understand. But it’s fiddly and awkward to use. For example, it takes four taps to mark a task done (open, state, done, save). A tool like this needs to feel fluid, and this doesn’t.
If you could add OneDrive sync, then I will not have to use Dropbox. Irrespective of this, this is amazing app which helps me use emacs on my MacBook and Linux desktop while making sure I don’t miss anything important while I am on mobile devices.
Beorg is a really good app for both outlining and org mode agendas. It has improved a lot since I last used It a few years back.
Org mode on iPhone! And it’s good! :O I hope more sync options become available as iCloud isn’t available on Linux and Dropbox recently introduced a limit on the number of synced devices so it’s a bit limited now
This app was my gateway drug to emacs. I’m not joking when I say it’s changed my life for the better. I’m a first year computer science PhD student and I was juggling all sorts of ways of keeping notes, papers, todos etc, and I was constantly getting stressed out because info wasn’t where I thought it was. Now I have one .org file for my phd work, one for my personal projects, and one for my other “todos”. I’ve been using this system for around 4 weeks and it’s actually helped me focus on getting things done rather than faffing around with productivity tools. It takes a couple of days to get used to org-mode and emacs in general, but it is absolutely worth it.
It’s pure functional. It works both as a todo manager and as a companion app. I can take both todo lists, but also capture thoughts and use Org as I do in emacs, without the emacs. It’s fun powerful and in many ways non intrusive. You won’t be bothered with ads, and no paywalled features. This app deserves some support. I wish more were like it.
