Let’s be honest, airline apps are bad. They’re basically just bad websites in the shape of an app. Delta’s app has some of these details but is better than the competition.
But it is still a painful, often useless and broken app.
The app constantly reports errs with no explanation. In the case of network errors once encountered they can’t be reaolved without restarting the app, no matter how good your network.
The upcoming trips UI is a mess. It doesn’t even have my flight dates. It shows I have a trip from the 5th to the 23rd for example but when you tap into the detail the flights themselves don’t have this info. And indeed due to the time difference my return flight was shown as leaving at 1.35AM. On the 23rd? No dear boy, the 24th. If I were to use the app as my primary Delta tool, which is kind of the goal, I’d probably miss my flight.
Likewise the profile system is barebones.
I’m lactose intolerant and can’t set a special meal as a default. Delta optimistically assumes I might be cured someday and so I have to manually add my special meal for each. And. Every. Flight.
As software goes this is truly a brick.

Doesn’t work, I was not able to check in any flight. 5 passangers.. only 2 of them checked in!

Buggy & unreliable
For online check-in, the app was utterly unusable: it didn’t allow to add any checked bags even though I had allowance for two. Human check-in had no such problems. On the day of my flight, the “Today” screen reported repetitive failures when updating the state of my flight. The airport website was much more useful.
Nice, but...
...unstable. I really like the idea of having all my flight info via Delta in my pocket. Actually, I still like it, it's awesome. Booked a trip to NYC in September, wanted to use the app to select my seats (I was going for the Comfort+ seats in the Economy class), but everytime I try to enter my MasterCard data, the app collapses upon tapping the expiration date selection. Every single time. The iPad app on the other hand, doesn't even notice I tapped the seats, nothing happens to them. If you could fix this feauture, I'd be happy for 5 stars!

Why can’t I add a checked bag before 24 hours before? Very frustrating
Can’t purchase bags because of app
When purchasing bags and enter credit card information, the app will not apply the credit card information because it switches to purchase bags with miles and if you’re not using miles or don’t have miles, you can’t make your purchase.
