Great, but painful to set up
I’ve spent hours and hours on my light panel shapes. It kept telling me the same thing over and over again and I watched all the tutorials and they didn’t help at all. This may be because my shapes are from the previous generation, but it still has brought me so much distress and frustration. These shapes are horrible to set up!! Although, I really do like them as they are very pretty and match my room. All the Nanoleaf devices are a wonderful idea. The app just really needs to be remade.

Clunky
Useless to say the least. The lights takes ages to connect so that you can actually control them. Linking with Alexa doesn’t work, no way to provide new set up codes which Alexa requires, in a proper home automation system this is pointless. Had high hopes but would give 0 stars if it was possible
Update bricked my light
Things were going well, no problems… then updated and keep getting “Device unreachable” now.

I have a Nanoleaf light bulb for my bedroom and what happened was I was on it and it kept saying there was and error with my internet so I fixed my internet but it was still acting up so now I’m like quite confused and upset because this happens quite often
So much for matter, and thread, making device set up easy!
Without a doubt, one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had of on boarding a new device to my network. I thought the move to Matter and thread was going to make set ups a breeze. What a dream that appears to be with these nanoleaf essentials lights. Have found them nothing short of frustrating at every step of the way. I have had to quit the app, restart the app, restart, my devices, unplug, the lights, put the lights in, turn, the power off to the lights, all in an endless cycle, just to get these to connect stably.
These lights go into a state of being constantly unreachable, or simply, not responding, in other apps, and then becoming impossible to control. I have never rebooted a device or restarted an app, or had to do so much work to get one of these devices to behave itself.I have bought much cheaper smart lights at 75% less of the cost of these Nanoleaf and they connect within five seconds to the network out of the box. I estimate I must’ve spent four hours getting these set up. And even now they will stop responding in Alexa, or they will stop showing up in Apple HomeKit and become unreachable or unresponsive. Often, the only solution, for this is to fully unplug all of my devices, and unplug my router and wait patiently for them to disconnect themselves from the cloud, and then restart it. I have never owned such a manually intensive smart device in all my life, I must have close to 60 devices on my network at home, and without a doubt, I will never ever buy another one of these lights, because of the frustration. zero stars for the product and zero stars for the app. The app is forever, trying to get you to download garbage from their website around how to set your lights to somebody else’s theme or pushing new products or content at you and there is no way to switch any of this off. Truly, one of the worst purchases I’ve ever made, and they are not cheap!
Frustrating
This app used to be easy to use but now my rooms don’t work and it’s very frustrating. Please fix!
Bombarded at first launch
Come on, don't throw every authorisation for Bluetooth, notifications etc at the user upon opening the app. Overwhelming and poor user experience.
Progressive disclosure is a much more user friendly experience.
