Industry Leading Security Features
Messages are stored on Proton Mail servers using end-to-end encryption at all times and are transmitted securely between Proton servers and user devices. This largely eliminates the risk of message interception.
Zero Access to Your Email Content
Proton Mail's zero access architecture means that your data is encrypted in a way that makes it inaccessible to us. Data is encrypted on the client side using an encryption key that Proton does not have access to. This means we don't have the technical ability to decrypt your messages.
Open-Source Cryptography
Proton Mail's open-source software has been thoroughly vetted by security experts from around the world to ensure the highest levels of protection. Proton Mail only uses secure implementations of AES, RSA, along with OpenPGP, while all of the cryptographic libraries used are open source. By using open-source libraries, Proton Mail can guarantee that the encryption algorithms used do not have clandestinely built-in back doors.
Proton Mail in the press:
“Proton Mail is a Gmail-like email system which uses end-to-end encryption, making it impossible for outside parties to monitor.” Forbes
“A new email service being developed by a group who met at MIT and CERN promises to bring secure, encrypted email to the masses and keep sensitive information away from prying eyes.” Huffington Post

I really like the ios app. Only things I am missing is ability to swipe to snooze and undo when archiving email (either by shake or better by some popup button/snackbar).
It would be nice to be able to set automations from the ios directly, but it's not as important.
Otherwise, keep the great work 🙂
It needs an option to change default notification sound
Proton app used default tri-tone sound for notofications. No option to change it.
Would change to 5 star once the issue is fixed
I absolutely enjoy the privacy of protonmail and been using it (free account) for a few years. But when writing emails on my phone, there has been an ongoing issue with delay. (I’d write one sentence or try to delete something but the app wouldn’t react immediately but with delays. ) If this could get fixed, I’d most definitely give it 5/5.
Additionally, it also keeps happening that my mails (normal communication with subject lines filled and such, without attachment) go to people’s spam folder. May I ask why is that?
All apps
Problem to get out yubikey from the account after problem with more staff and nonody ever response for two weeks to help and when contact them on social network get only blocked from them so if they do not response I am forced to announce all the problem for abuse or fraud on criminal police in czech republic and also in Switzerland.
Issues and bugs for a long time. No notification from the app
Love the app but it crashes very often when I open an email for notification bar. I have cleared the cache, uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it still freezes. Update Dec22: still crashing even after update. Problems occur at least 30% of the time. I put 1 star, it's been ongoing for a while. Update May23: no more crashes but if I switch off my phone and activate the flight mode, I don't get notifications when I turn it back on. I have to open the app to see if I have emails. Reply to developers: I edited my review because indeed it was confusing. Issue is that I don't get notifications when I turn on the phone or when I deactivate flight mode. I have to reopen the app manually to see if I have emails.
Update Oct22. I just realized that I missed an important email that I received 2 ago without notification from the app. I like what Proton is doing but I have experienced significant issues with this app for almost a year now. I've switched to Tutanota.
Best mail service for privacy
It didn’t take long for me to switch to protonmail as my main email provider after trying it out. The web ui is much friendlier to me than that of other providers. You keep getting new and constantly updating services with your subrscription. Emails send and receive well, spam protection is excellent, especially if you use the simplelogin extension (which is included for free with certain subscriptions, it is the first link when you look up “proton simplelogin). You never have to give sites you don’t trust your real email and only generate aliases that can be disabled anytime.
Only issue I am aware of is with notifications. iOS notifications stay even after you read or delete the email in question on other devices. Just a small annoyance that will likely get fixed sometime soon.
App is extremely slow
The app is extremely slow regardless of the internet speed and also security keys like Yubikey do not seem to be working for the iOS app as they do for the regular browser login on a PC for instance
Notification
When will be added custom notification sound?
Best app👍
I recommend this application it is better than gmail Infinity/10
