• Your inbox is yours — We don’t spy on your communications to show you targeted ads. Your inbox, your rules.
• Rigorous encryption — Your entire inbox is secured, on all your devices. No one can read your emails but you. Proton is privacy, guaranteed by end-to-end and zero-access encryption.
• Unmatched protection — We offer strong phishing, spam, and spying/tracking protection for all your communications.
Industry Leading Security Features
Messages are stored on Proton Mail servers using end-to-end encryption at all times and are transmitted securely between Proton servers and user devices. This largely eliminates the risk of message interception.
Zero Access to Your Email Content
Proton Mail's zero access architecture means that your data is encrypted in a way that makes it inaccessible to us. Data is encrypted on the client side using an encryption key that Proton does not have access to. This means we don't have the technical ability to decrypt your messages.
Open-Source Cryptography
Proton Mail's open-source software has been thoroughly vetted by security experts from around the world to ensure the highest levels of protection. Proton Mail only uses secure implementations of AES, RSA, along with OpenPGP, while all of the cryptographic libraries used are open source. By using open-source libraries, Proton Mail can guarantee that the encryption algorithms used do not have clandestinely built-in back doors.
Proton Mail in the press:
“Proton Mail is a Gmail-like email system which uses end-to-end encryption, making it impossible for outside parties to monitor.” Forbes
“A new email service being developed by a group who met at MIT and CERN promises to bring secure, encrypted email to the masses and keep sensitive information away from prying eyes.” Huffington Post

Everything good except the search function is not. it could be improved lot. Several things after trying to search does not come up easily.

No attachments

Tom__London on

United Kingdom

Cannot attach images or files to email: looks like no problem when sending, but recipients don’t get them and the attachments are mysteriously gone in Sent.

Brilliant service, feel very happy using it and I’m an I.T,novice .Don’t know what the nerds think.but it suits me.

Tech with human touch

malieka3 on

Ives used Protonmail for several years and sm happy to pay for a secure email service. Over the years new features have been added to Protonmail. If I have a problem I’ve been able to get through to a human being and het advice to find a solution. The price for an email service is also reasonable and just today someone comment on how nice and simple my email address is. It’s easy to set up several email addresses to deliver mail to the main inbox.

iPad UI is poor

TheRazza on

United Kingdom

The app works well but the iPad experience leaves a lot to be desired. In landscape mode the app doesn’t take advantage of the iPad screen and is just stretched out horizontally instead of taking advantage of the screen size the way the Apple Mail app and many other do.

Emails don’t load

Amznsuks on

United Kingdom

For years this app does not work most of the time , it will not load the content of emails … I am sure they do this on purpose .

Thoroughly disappointed

Danno863 on

United Kingdom

When my renewal came up, I decided to cancel and revert back to a std account. I was charged for the privilege and my mail account was locked until I paid up! Utterly dismal service. Further, spam emails are no longer filtered from my inbox efficiently, since downgrading, a proportion of what would have been previously filtered to the spam-box no appears in my inbox. Clearly an attempt to get me to upgrade again, however now I would rather go elsewhere. For those who think this is secure - remember your encryption keys are held on their server! Security 101 - if someone else had your keys, you are not secure.

Secure and easy to use

Passkey login please!

📿♨️ on

Amazing system thank you. Please do passkeys login for ProtonMail. Allow 2 passkeys and optional backup codes. Also increase storage size (try to keep prices reasonable) on proton file storage and that’s about everything I could wish for!
