Industry Leading Security Features
Messages are stored on Proton Mail servers using end-to-end encryption at all times and are transmitted securely between Proton servers and user devices. This largely eliminates the risk of message interception.
Zero Access to Your Email Content
Proton Mail's zero access architecture means that your data is encrypted in a way that makes it inaccessible to us. Data is encrypted on the client side using an encryption key that Proton does not have access to. This means we don't have the technical ability to decrypt your messages.
Open-Source Cryptography
Proton Mail's open-source software has been thoroughly vetted by security experts from around the world to ensure the highest levels of protection. Proton Mail only uses secure implementations of AES, RSA, along with OpenPGP, while all of the cryptographic libraries used are open source. By using open-source libraries, Proton Mail can guarantee that the encryption algorithms used do not have clandestinely built-in back doors.
Proton Mail in the press:
“Proton Mail is a Gmail-like email system which uses end-to-end encryption, making it impossible for outside parties to monitor.” Forbes
“A new email service being developed by a group who met at MIT and CERN promises to bring secure, encrypted email to the masses and keep sensitive information away from prying eyes.” Huffington Post

This app is really poorly made, I can not simply click on the notification to view the new email, I have to close the app then reopen and find the email, and not even that works sometimes. Very poorly built email client would not recommend
One of the few good options.
Long time user of proton. Switched to skiff to try something new, big mistake. Proton is tried and tested. Let’s just hope they stay resilient and stick to their values. Unlike some of their sellout competitors.
The best 📧 🇨🇭
Anyone that cares about privacy needs to make the switch to Proton. You won’t be disappointed, every app works without problem in my experience of using all Proton apps & it’s totally worth the money. Definitely recommend & will keep on recommending Proton to people. Make the switch from the likes of Gmail, Yahoo & Outlook etc. Keep up the good work Proton, yous are doing a cracking job 👍🏼.
Very good, but…
Still can’t ‘Select All’ and ‘Mark As Read’. So I have thousands of E-mails unread.
[EDIT February 2024] This has now been added!!! 100 at a time, but still much better than not being able to! Perfect. Thank you!
Select All toggle needed
I used the search button to search for an email, using a keyword yielded about two hundred emails. In trying to delete this emails, I can’t seem to find a select all button to delete them at a go. Rather I have to select them individually to delete. I don’t seem to find the select all button on the app.
What
I cannot login to my account even though my password and username is right. Why why why
Almost great
Nice little app, does all the normal email app stuff with added Proton goodness.
However, and this is a big one in 2024, dark mode is unusable as it makes the text invisible in a lot of my emails.
In-line images
There is no option to prevent the display of images which are often used for tracking purposes.
Unusable.
Access to iPhone contacts broken.
Used to be good
Too many account creation restrictions and security blocks now. Shame.
