After years of using Viator for trips my friends and I went to sorrento. The walking food tour was one of the worst tours ever. The tour guide didn’t want to be there and when we complained they couldn’t have cared less. It was not value for money and we could have done the tour ourselves for a faction of the price. A real disappointment. Will never use again
I booked a tour with them and basically they label the booking as “non-refundable”. When I got to the activity centre, they did not have any of my reservation details. The manager told us that viator takes the money but never communicate with the centre. When I contacted viator, I kept receiving the generic message on whatsapp, asking the booking reference multiple times and getting different agents every 15 minutes!
Very informative and easy to understand what to expect
Searching for activities is now very frustrating for two reasons. 1. You cannot filter by a specific area 2. When you click on a tour, you lose your search results. So when you go back you have to enter the search term again and scroll through all the results again.
I booked a trip on Viator that clearly stated hotel pickup and drop off with no distance restriction, they even let me enter my hotel destination. When I received a message from the operator stating they would pick me up and a different hotel I contacted Viator support. They wrongly stated that the hotel on the booking was correct, even though I have screenshots showing my correct hotel is on the booking. They then said they couldn’t contact the tour operator as it was night, even though the tour operator was messaging me at the same time. They then stated that pickup was only available inside the city even though this wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the app. Viator falsely advertised this experience to secure the booking, without the real information being readily accessible on the app. Their support just jumps around the issue and did nothing to help. I will never use this app again, it will be Trip advisor for me from here on out. I would advise anyone reading this to avoid this company, they won’t help you if you.
I used the app to book tours only because they give rewards cash back but the app doesn’t work. I’ve never visited any affiliate partner or website to find tours but they told me I had. The affiliate partner they mentioned doesn’t even provide information or tours in the country I booked tours in, so the app has a technical fault. Basically it’s a roll of the dice if you get rewards cashback on your app bookings. Sometimes the system works but others it won’t. I contacted them numerous times to explain the issue is with their app and also asked them to provide evidence if they say I had booked with affiliate but all my emails have been ignored. Even when you only use the app to book tours the system can say you used an affiliate partner some how!?
Great booking site for experiences and good value for money
I tried to get some assistance via WhatsApp regarding my booking, the customer service representative was incredibly rude and disrespectful. When I asked for the complaint department’s details, I only got a phone number in US, when I clearly said I’m in the UK. I was told no e-mail or any way to file a formal complaint online. I won’t be using this app again and I don’t recommend it to anyone.
So many activities at a range of prices.
