This is a wonderful life improving app for anyone who uses youtube and I recommend it wholeheaetedly for anyone hesitating on the purchase. I do however have a points to add which could be better or added. 1. Bug?/improvement When a video launches there is a moment where it seems the the video will start playing, but then it flashes black a few times and then starta playing. As I imagine this is the video player changing the video resolution (I might be wrong), but the experience would much improve if the video would rather shower a loading spinning wheel rather than flash a few times because it makes it look janky. I’m not even sure if this is possible to do, but I thought to point it out. 2. Feature/improvememt request When switching the video playback speed to any of the faster speeds the audio becomes quite robotic and tinny sounding. This is a problem even with the native video player and the problem persists on other browser only the native youtube app provides good quality sped up audio. I am wondering if it is possible with the new player to remedy this and improve on the sped up audio quality. Maybe it could be a separate extension, I would be willing to pay for an improved experience with sped audio in youtube. Thank you for your excellent work! This extension has improved my quality of life immensely!

Finally, I can see YouTube subtitles in Safari (Fullscreen/PiP). *Not sure if this is possible with a third party app, but my only wish would be more subtitle controls: 1. The ability to disable the fade-in effect for subtitles. Most of the dramas on youtube, their subtitles are poorly timed. They just popup and disappear in a blink. And with the fade-in effect, it makes it worse. 2. It would also be great to be able to offset subtitles or add a 1-second tail or more. The less the subtitle gaps the better, it gives people ample amount of time to completely read them. I hope this is possible with Vinegar. 🙏 Thank you!
A year or so ago I tried Vinegar and loved it but uninstalled due to incompatibility with SponsorBlock. Now it works just fine and auto-skips as configured. Thank you for making this
I was hoping this app would provide a way to play videos in the background like Android phones do where the phone screen times out and just the audio plays or where you can swipe up and send Safari into the floating island and have the audio only play there but so far I can’t play audio in the background this way, just picture-in-picture mode like the app. A suggestion for the developer to make this app really special would be to allow users to swipe up and play video audio only in the floating dynamic island. YouTube ads are blocked like the app description says as of the time of my review.
I primarily use vinegar so I can listen to audiobooks on YouTube without constant adbreaks. It works as advertised. No regrets.
Oh no! This isn't related to the latest release of Vinegar I think. YouTube just did something and PnP isn't working. Can't play videos as background music anymore. This literally just started happening today 2/3/25. I updated Vinegar to the latest version and restarted Safari but the broken behavior is persisting. Dear developer, if you can fix it you need cash. Add a voluntary subscription or something if possible. This extension has worked for so many years you should be rewarded for maintaining it.
App is great but it replaces the option to skip to the next video with skipping by 10 seconds instead, can you add an option to change this? It makes skipping songs a bit annoying
Been using Vinegar for a few years. Does what it says: native controls and no ads. I do hope the developer is able to bring back AirPlay compatibility.
