Ugh
I’m a fan of the app, but version update 25.2 has changed the mobile layout within the accounts too much that makes it harder for me to see reconciled vs working balance. Now I have to click select before selecting transactions. You have made the app worse, change it back.
Hate these layout changes
Latest change is to require you to click on the “Working Balance” to see the “Cleared Balance” (which you need to know to reconcile). So we’ve added clicks to get to the same info that’s now hidden. How did that add value?
Keeps getting worse
Every update seems to bring another bad UI change rather than any sort of feature improvement. It’s getting to the point where the app is just about not worth using
Best Budgeting App, but..
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. You’re making all these small changes to make things look more minimal and aesthetically pleasing but you’re causing users to have to use more clicks and more actions (adding more steps to clear multiple transactions, hiding uncleared and cleared balances, etc).
It’s like the boss said “don’t just stand there, do something.” So they added more friction but hey, it’s more minimal and modern.
My advice would be “don’t do something, just stand there.”
Stop making unnecessary changes
Why? Just why? I’ve used YNAB for several years and I absolutely love what it has helped me do for my finances. The latest update makes it so much more tedious to reconcile accounts because it now only shows me my working balance instead of also showing my cleared balance. Yeah I could just click on the icon to see my cleared balance but why add this step? I’ve enjoyed this app because once I learned the YNAB concepts, everything has been easy to do. I reconcile my accounts every day because it makes me happy and keeps me constantly looking at my budget. Fix this and stop making changes for the sake of making changes.
Changes for the sake of it are killing YNAB
As a long term YNAB user, it pains me the developers have taken it upon themselves to introduce change after change that just breaks people’s long established workflows. Stop it.
Just. Stop. It.
Let people continue using the great product you originally built because if you keep making changes that make it harder to use for established users, those customers like myself will find another product where the devs actually listen to them.
YNAB: please don’t respond to this review with a not-meaningful “thanks for your feedback!” If you wanna do something, roll back the layout and workflow changes like separating cash/credit accounts and making extra steps needed to view all balances for an account.
Not Adding Features I Like
None of the features YNAB adds to the product are of any interest to me. Filed many feature requests over the years and none get implemented. One was actively refuted by support who either did not understand my request or refuse to acknowledge my stance on the topic as legitimate.
To Support: no need to contact me after reading this. I like to update my 1 star review and current feelings of YNAB occasionally to let others know my opinion. I know I can file feature requests and support is “always there to help!!!!🙂🙃🙂!!!!”
Most recent update 👎🏼
I love ynab and have been a faithful user for well over a decade. A while ago the connections to my credit union kept getting dropped and I got tired of resetting them so I decided to just manually enter transactions. Everything was great until the most recent update where there were UI changes to the accounts view. Now if I want to mark something as cleared its two extra taps. If I want to check the uncleared balance to match against my credit union, it’s an extra tap. The previous UI was perfect, the new one decreased usability rather than improving it
Where’s my info
Please put the Cleared and Uncleared Transactions information back on the top of the specific account details, next to Working Balance, nobody asked for them to be hidden. Now to double check my bank account reflects what has come out and cleared I have to click a button, click out of a button, scroll to a transaction, clear it, then click a button again to see the most important information. FIX THIS, I PAY TOO MUCH FOR THIS APP TO NOT HAVE NEEDED INFO RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME.
Doesn’t actually auto import
Advertising as if it auto import. In reality it always broken and they end up recommending to manually enter each and every transaction manually. Horrible app.
