I listened to Hopeless and then Loosing Hope, I thought this was the order recommended. I would not recommend this, it was very repetitive and I finally just stopped listening about 10 chapters before the end. But I enjoy Colleen’s other books!
Surprises around every corner. Very well developed story. Excited to listen to the next one!
This book revealed much more detail about the Kennedy’s and those in their orbit.
Although I grew up in Berkeley and Los Angeles, this book strongly resonated with me. I always joked that I’m half White trash and half Mexican American trash in an effort to distance myself from ‘them.’ At 55, I am able to fully embrace my heritage and the characters who raised me. I feel such a kinship with Vance. I have so many similar stories. Today, I am very proud of who I have become, but that was not always the case. I worked hard and did not allow myself to be derailed by my family and my own reckless behavior. This book offers great insight into the lives of us poor White kids. Those of us with origins in “fly over country” who become professionally successful would do well to remember where we came from. I adopted two kids from DCFS and together we struggle to overcome the past. I am glad that I have that history in the sense that I can relate well to my kids. If they had been adopted by someone who couldn’t relate it would make their struggle even worse. With me, there is no judgement because my family was just as disfuncional. Enjoy the book, and remember that ALL children living in poverty need help, not only those children of color. As a society we must do better for all of our children. For those of us that survived, it is imperative that we pay it forward.

Heats my new and completely updated iPhone super hot draining the battery within a few hours. The books are already downloaded and this is the only audio app I have that does this. There are a LOT of others complaining about the same problem online. How is this not fixed yet?
I loved the sweetness of this book. Love like Jack and Ellie’s is hard to find. Relationships take work and don’t always come easy. This author is easy to read and catches your attention from the very beginning.
I have just finished the last book of the branches of love series. I have sampled, many authors, and sadly nothing truly wholesome has presented itself until now. I don’t have to worry about foul language or disrespect with Sally Britton’s books. So refreshing! I need to start on a new series by this author, because I am completely addicted now! Thank you Sally for bringing good wholesome romance into my reading life again. -D
