The customer experience is unnecessarily complex, long, and doesn’t always result in a ticket for a train. Some tickets must be delivered as hard copy which doesn’t work if you book before you travel. Some tickets are only released a few weeks before travel. We left much of our prepaid pass unused
The train schedules are always not up??? It is very confusing as I got Eurail tickets but I have to find the schedules somewhere else. Dont see the point of downloading the app.
Some of the worst, least intuitive user interfaces I have ever used, makes a simple concept extremely confusing until you use it for the first time. Do not make an account with google and then go overseas, the app logs you out every 3 days and then google has a freak out because you’re not signing in from your home country. Made what should have been a seamless experience unnecessarily frustrating and exhausting
Anyone who tells you to use eurail over pre booking is wrong. Don’t listen to them. It is not user friendly and the double handling between booking and planning just to get my lousy day pass to activate nearly gave me an aneurysm. Wish I could give 0 stars
the way EU treats rail really makes EU look like a bunch of lazy scammers
I often have to add a journey several times before it is linked to my pass. The date and time keeps resetting to current - resulting in me allocating the current day as a travel day incorrectly on one occasion. I ended up with multiple trips and can’t delete any. Help is useless. If it wasn’t mandatory to use for Eurail I wouldn’t touch it.
This App let me down when I needed it most. We used it to book our 5 days in a month Eurail Passes. The highlight of our trip was to be a ride on the Glacier Express. When the ticket inspector came to inspect our tickets, my wife’s pass was nowhere to be seen in the App. Instead of enjoying the scenery, I spent four hours trying to find the lost pass on my wife’s phone. Otherwise we were faced with a ninety Euro fine. Eventually, I found in Google that many people have experienced this problem. The App becomes disconnected from the data (i.e. the Eurail Pass). The only way to fix this is to delete the App and restore it. Magically, the data returns with no further action. We had made a deliberate choice to only install a European sim in my phone and not in my wife’s phone. Perhaps I should have transferred the sim to my wife’s phone for the download. In the end, I didn’t and will probably incur something like $AUD100 in charges from my wife’s mobile provider in turning on mobile data and data roaming to download the app. Marginally better than the fine. A week later and I’ve discovered that the data has been lost again. At least I’ve been able to repeat the delete and reinstall action on wifi this time. I will never use this App for another trip again if I can possibly avoid it.
The Eurail pass is terrific. But the app really is just a useless piece of decoration that gets in the way of your travel by pretending to be useful. The key issue is that it can’t integrate your seat bookings (the list of your journeys is just for rail administrators; it’s meaningless for passengers). Apart from that, you can’t delete an accidentally added trip, an update loses your information, and it often just doesn’t work.
This app has been really confusing. It doesn’t provide info clearly on how to actually reserve and pay for a ticket once you have selected a journey. Also, after saving all of my family’s passport details into the app to book the journeys, the next time I logged in they had all been wiped and I had to enter all details again. I feel like a sucker for spending $1000 on this for trying to plan in advance when I’m sure it’s just as easy to pay per ticket once in the country.
