Eurail/Interrail Rail Planner Reviews
Easy to use but some questions!
My partner and I downloaded the app at different times. We traveled together but the journey planner gave different results for the save journey enquiry on a number of occasions.
In some cases I had to add journeys manually to my pass that were added automatically to my partner’s.
Mess in route plan
This app gives you a so-called plan, without considering if the platform charging time is feasible, not to mention if there is an unexpected delay what would happen to the following stops. Yes the seat reservation is cheaper than buy directly from the train company, but once there is delay and it involves seats reserved from different train companies, it is very unlikely that you will get support to carry with the journey.
Portrait only. Deleted
I can’t use this on my ipad, because it’s portrait only. Deleted
Great app for what it does
The app works well for what it has to do, which is allow you to create an itinerary and give you a valid QR code for each leg. You still have to research your trip, make your own seat reservations, and be ready for any travel hiccups. The app doesn’t relieve you of responsibility to make a successful journey.
Seems to demand an internet connection
I recently used the app with a 7-day Interrail Global pass. In most cases the QR code displayed OK when I needed to show it to the guard for scanning.
However, when on a train in the Swiss alps I had no 4G signal. When i tried Show Ticket all data had disappeared! Luckily, the guard was extremely understanding and created a Wi-Fi hotspot on his personal phone for me to connect. It then worked fine.
It seems that the app does not store the pass off-line, but tries to connect to the Internet to validate something. It has since been suggested to me that if I had used Airplane Mode, it would not attempt to do this and simply display the pass. It’s too late for me to test this.
App doesn't work and Interrail refuses to accept it
I have reached out to you Interrail multiple times about timetables that are available on their website, and trains that are bookable by the train operators, not existing within the app. They tell me that timetables do exist even though I have shown them screenshots showing them that they blatantly do not. Interrail's solution is for me to manually add every journey, which is extremely time-consuming and does not interact with the map in a functional way, meaning that I cannot see the latest offers that are available to me from other companies on my route, nor can I get a map of where I have been within the app. They refuse to fix the problem. I would recommend avoiding and either finding alternative form of travel, or booking directly with train operators as if you have a specific route in mind rather than just hopping on and off trains, it can actually be much cheaper to do that anyway.
Excellent but involved
Having just spent a month touring Europe I can vouch for this app. Any problems I’ve had have arisen from misunderstanding the rail system itself. The app, in truth, is a fairly complex thing, and the best way to understand it is to use it. Admittedly, that’s is a pretty intimidating thought at first.
It would benefit from a concise, accurate guide on its use (and, more importantly, its abilities), along with clear pointers as to where to find it.
Probably the worst app I have ever had to use
The app should store travel data and daily tickets for travelling by train. In reality the majority of users who responded seem to say that the app has failed on them, leaving them unable to see the data or show a valid ticket.
Awful App, needs a lot of work.
This app has been driving my nuts travelling across Europe. I had quite a lot of seat reservations paid in advance, but you have to go into the account and then seat reservations separately . Also when the screen goes off these tickets aren’t cached, so when you pick your phone up again the tickets disappear and you have to re load. Only in an underground train station this is useless. The website doesn’t sync to the app so have to re do all the journeys. Why doesn’t the app cache as much info as possible? I’m sticking to Trainline next time.
Awesome
We went on a trip through Europe and it was the beeeest😀😀😀😀😀😃👍👍👍👍👍🔟/🔟
