Scam

Don’t bother getting this app. This only works for travelling with really cheap regional trains that take ages. For any high-speed trains You have to pay extra fees they call “seat reservations” so on top of paying around €500 for supposedly four days of travel or I don’t know how much you still have to pay at least €20 more per each reservation sometimes up to 30 and 40. That is if you find any trains at all to begin with. So in the end it’s actually three times more expensive to get this stupid pass and there’s no way they will refund it. Don’t waste your money is better to buy your trains in advance and book them individually.

Pretty bad

This app is THE WORST there was 6 of us trying to book our trains and not a single person didn’t have a problem. You have to go to a separate website to purchase the seat reservations but we were all taken to different websites, so it was difficult to explain to one another what we were doing and just created a very confusing scene. 5 of us have now managed to purchase our passes but one of my friends is still having issues hours later. Despite all this, the app is useful for inter-railing trips. It keeps all of your information in one place and once it is all booked I imagine I will be hugely grateful for it. It is just surprisingly clunky for something created by an international company!

Good lucky for everyone if you bought this package

DEPRESSED and NIGHTMARES when I began to use. Is too many ridiculous things happened in my trip. It will make you mad and feeling helpless. No guidance how to use and not many information on the internet even YouTuber. The apps will deduction your quotas but you didn’t book any ticket. And will change your booking schedule …. It will make you cancel / rebook / rebuy the accommodations and tickets. It is not only waste your money and have to delay or change your plannings.

The app is much too complicated to use, particularly with trains such as TGV and Eurostar that require separate seat reservations. I got fines once because the day had not been validated although I had planned the trip in the app. How can one come up with such a bad app, not user friendly at all.

Caused a lot of stress

My friend and I booked a pass to use throughout Spain, we planned our route using the website and everything seemed doable. Once we arrived to Spain we realised some of the places we wanted to visit weren’t actually part of a direct rail route even though this wasn’t mentioned when using the route planner before arrival, had to spend €60 on a blahblah car in order to get to our next destination. Throughout our journey we used 5 travel days, 4 of which we had to pay an extra cost on top due to seat reservation (ranging from €4 to €12). Even after we had reserved our seats through the app we turned up to the station to be told that our train has been sold out and therefore forced to take the next train departing 3 hours after our initial train. Wish they had clearer information about their seat reservation scheme as we probably wouldn’t have booked it had we known how much stress it would’ve caused.

If you want an Interrail pass, this app is basically necessary. But its not a pleasure. Trips in the app don’t link to trips created in the web site, and I never found how to link multiple people for the same journey. Reservations don’t work as far as I see, and you can’t bring in reservations made another way. The CET time zone doesn’t work as described in Britain. This is probably also the country with the longest journey to any other country. Other reviewers mention various bugs. I was unable to show my ticket to an inspector once. The flow of the app and indeed the business logic of Interrail is a bit over complicated. For example an outbound day can only have one journey which can contain several trains from a search.

Frustrating!

This site really could do better. Such a rigmarole to do anything. I booked a trip for May 2024, Fortunately (cannot stress this enough) I printed off the tickets as they disappeared from the app. (Tickets on email, but why not stored in ‘my journeys’ section on the app? I found i had to log in every time I want to book a ticket. — which you need to a lot crossing Europe at speed. Only the Eurostar tickets could be stored in my Apple Wallet. Just see it as a journey planner but even then it is not perfect.

Unreliable on iOS

i was so anxious downloading because i saw the reviews and i had a one country pass for switzerland coming up. i watched a youtube tutorial on how to use it and the app ended up being incredibly easy to use. it doesn’t tell you what platform for what train but i used google maps for that. the interface is incredibly simple and i am 100% purchasing again one day as this made my holiday stress free and i was able to explore the entire country and get amazing discounts at boat rides and cablecars.

My recent experience was via Byway Travel so they did setting up a Global pass. I liked the ease of validating journeys and adding extra journeys, in my case with no charge. I must say some pronouncements are confusing. ‘Cannot be ordered outside Europe’ ‘the France pass only covers that country (not Eurostar?) I think 3 or 4 days in a month is a bit mean.
