Goodreads: Book Reviews

I have been using Goodreads for years but with each change they make l like it less and less. Now they changed the reading challenge and it’s so bad lm thinking of actually switching to a different app. Everything that was good they took away - being able to track mine and my friends’ progress, going from well-arrange layout to a totally messy one and added completely useless Community challenges neither l or my friends are interested in at all. There’s no option to opt out of this new disastrous version and go back. Losing all meaning for me to use. Neither of my friends are happy with this version of Reading challenge either. Since Amazon got involved it’s going downhill. We are being pushed into innovations just for the sake of it, half the time for worse than better.

That really makes the app uncomfortable to use… The search could also be more tolerant to minor typos…

I used to love Goodreads because I could see my friends’ reading goals and track their progress in the Reading Challenge. It was such a great way to stay motivated, discover new books, and keep in touch with fellow readers. Unfortunately, this feature was removed, and now the new Reading Challenge just doesn’t feel as meaningful or engaging. My friends and I really miss seeing each other’s updates—it helped us all stay connected and inspired. We’re even considering switching to a different reading app if Goodreads doesn’t bring this feature back (or offer a similar alternative). Without it, Goodreads feels incomplete, and I’m not as excited to use it anymore.

Otherwise very good app but missing dark mode is a disaster

This app is exactly what I needed in life

Celá aplikace vypadá, jako by ji vytvořili před dvaceti lety a tomu odpovídá i hodně krkolomné ovládání. Jen zaznamenat si progres ve čtení jednotlivých knih je úplně zbytečně na několik kliků. Přidat českou edici nebo správný přebal člověk sám vůbec nemůže. A tak by se dalo pokračovat. Popularitu téhle hrůzy absolutně nechápu. Díky bohu za StoryGraph.

Love what I can do with the app. And at the same time it drives me literally insane I am unable to find books I read! If this would be at least possible to add - but it is next to impossible, it discourages me from using it. Could not find at least 7 books, wrote a request to Librarians - what for?? No one cares no one responds. At least let me add the book to my personal library! It used to be possible.. fix it please?

The application requests an update even after the update and searching for books does not work

Can we please have Did not finish status? There is many books I dont wanna read anymore but I dont want them to be rated as “read”, cause I did not. Also I wish this function will not erase read pages in case I will want to finish the book later in life. Over all I am happy with this app. Especially connecting to kindle is nice touch.

I love this app I really do but please consider a dark mode. When I open the app early in the morning or late at night, the light hurts my eyes. Thank you.
