Needs updates
I’ve been using Goodridge for a while now and while I love it, it could be so much better. I wish there was a way to write books half stars. I also wish that if I chose not to finish a book that it could still count towards the page is read at the end of the year. To my knowledge, it doesn’t count books unless you fully finish them and that’s not quite fair. I also think it would be cool if you could group your books on multiple shelves. Last idea is away when you update your books read if you could say the format you’re reading it on. That way at the end of the year you could see how many books you physically read, read on kindle, and ones you listened to.
Loved this book
Husbands and Lovers by Beatriz Williams crafts a tale of love, betrayal, and redemption that spans decades and continents, weaving together the lives of two women separated by time but connected by fate. The novel’s dual timelines -New England in 2022 and Cairo in 1951- create a layered narrative that explores the depths of human emotion and the complex web of relationships.
The contemporary thread follows Mallory Dunne, a single mother on a search to find a kidney donor for her ten-year son Sam, who is fighting for his life after a near fatal poisoning incident. As Mallory navigates the challenge of her son’s illness, she is forced to confront her past. Her mother’s mysterious adoption from an Irish orphanage and her romance with her childhood friend add layers to her journey.
In a parallel storyline, we are introduced to Hannah Ainsworth, a Hungarian and refugee who has rebuild her life and postwar Cairo as the wife of a wealthy British diplomat. Hannah‘s encounter with a charming hotel manager leads to an affair that reignites her desire and places her at the center of a dangerous political event that teeters Egypt on the brink of revolution.
Williams creates vivid settings, that transport readers from the glamorous and politically charged atmosphere of Cairo to the serene landscapes of New England. Her characters are deeply human, grappling with moral complex issues of privilege, class, and female experiences.
I enjoyed Husbands and Lover and recommend buying this book. It will be remembered and one of the best reads in 2024.

This app is great and is getting me more into reading!
Needs Updating
I really enjoy this app. It definitely needs updated though. The add friend and search for friend aspect seems flawed and glitchy. Also I hate seeing all of these “lists” of books on various topics. I would like to create my own lists but not necessarily have a shelf for them.
Recent updates have broken something.
I’ve use this app for years, and I think it’s great; however, recent updates have created some serious problems. Scanning an ISBN no longer brings up the correct book, instead I receive multiple possibilities none of which are the title I’m reading. Also, the app has no report function, where users can bring this to attention.
Not being able to give half star ratings is bothersome as well.

I LOVE goodreads. It’s an absolute must if you’re an avid reader or just someone that enjoys tracking what they read. I love almost everything about it BUT they need to make it to where you can give .5 stars! There are so many books that I want to rate 3.5 or 4.5 but I always have to type in a review and give it a full extra star, or remove a star.
