Marco, yes layout is different but I didn't feel any friction in find where stuff is and I basically didn't have to change the use of where stuff is. This still continue to be the best podcast app in any platform.
Have been an Overcast user since day one and it’s head and shoulders above the competition. The new re-design and re-write has made it even better.
I have tried several podcast apps over the years, but I have stuck with Castro for many years. Overcast is always installed on my phone, and I use it occasionally, but it has never stuck for me. The new redesign is very promising, and this is the first time I’ve been tempted to make Overcast my default podcast player.
Visually, the new update is acceptable. But the functionality got way worse: timers used to be great on the old version but are now cumbersome to use, hidden in a menu, showing predefined timers instead of an easy way to pick any time the user wants, and when it’s activated it just awkwardly hovers on top of a menu button. Other features that used to be quick to perform now take extra taps for no reason. The sorting order of some episodes also moved around for no reason while other episodes stayed as they were. Overall it feels like we’re beta-testing a new version instead of getting a finalized, great, new version.
If you are an avid podcast consumer, this is the best application available in Apple's platform.
