Wow SO painful to use

Update July 2024: the latest firmware has caused the device to NO LONGER upload footage to cloud. This is a massive step backwards. Tech support have tried to suggest elaborate ways to reset the firmware which has not fixed the issue. They acknowledged a cloud issue in JUNE 2024 which caused the problem for users. APPALLING service for what should be great kit, let down by very poor software design. Old review May 2022: I rely on this app to check occasional footage but it’s so clunky and unreliable I’m wasting a lot of time. There must be a smarter way to streamline the viewing of footage and importantly connect using BT to the BV’s own wifi. It tries, it fails, it suggested re-adding a camera, it still fails or it doesn’t find the camera etc. Whilst the kit is good the software lets it down totally to the point of wanting to simply throw it away. Come on Blackvue, user experience is what matters here too.

Improved but subscriptions fail

I actually have no problems with the app or device. I do have a problem with the fact that something as simple as GPS tracking costs $8 a month. Seriously all these subs will be the failure of the company. Personally I am going to change because of this in the near future. Deserves some extra stars. Seems to work a lot better than before.

Subscription Price is a con

Ok app is good but, when I tried to upgrade cloud to smart plan 1, it advertised the price USD but when I subscribed using App Store but I was charged in GBP. So $7.99 should have been £5.35 instead of £7.99???? Can someone have a look at the glitch (or could be intentional)??? I will change my rating if I get a feedback..

Trash cam

Well I have had BlackVue cam for years and always raved about how good they were.. Then they changed the app and went pure garbage so I wrote a review slating them.So now after a good length of time I am back and glad to say they sorted the app and i am back to being proud of my dr750s again. The app does dc a few times which is annoying while downloading but in general I am back to being happy again so I am glad to change my 1Star review to a 4 if it will let me.👌

New DR590X 2CH

I recently purchased this camera for the pure purpose of safety and just needing that simple security of my car. Please not I did not buy the GPS attachment as it was not necessary. I like the features the camera has, but it going back to the shop. To use this dash camera one has to give my location on the map? Why? That my phone and my location, it has nothing to do with set up!! I am not interested in using GPS, so I can’t really set it up. Local network I agree with for settings, but to make matters worse if I am trying to set up and decide to temporarily allow location, the APP itself is not showing under my settings to change it to on or turn off. All I want is to plug in, connect camera, get a live view “Bluetooth” or “wifi” to my phone. Once running I just want to let it do its job. The APP as said by the other review is correct and a waste of time. DO NOT BUY BLACKVUE. Go for a next base !!

Can’t find the downloaded video

I wish I could give 0 stars to this app as it’s rubbish and it was my biggest regret to purchase this dashcam They often update the app and every time I log in the interface has changed and becomes more and more not user-friendly And this time I struggled to find the button where they had saved my downloaded video. Followed the tutorial on YouTube but obviously, they have updated the interface again and this time I can't locate the file they have saved Avoid in all cost

Moronic business model

I was going to buy a 2nd BlackVue for my other car but the greedy gits want a premium cloud account. So I bought a nextbase and it’s way better.

Keeps disconnecting

I have a 900x but since the second last app update any time I go to play back on the camera it disconnects. If I try and download to footage it now just comes up failed. This was working perfectly unto the most recent updates

Great camera but useless app

I have no issues with the camera quality (dr970x) but the app is pretty well unusable. It constantly looses connection with the camera, it then struggles to find the camera. The only solution seems to be to close the app completely and then try again. If you can get the app to stay connected long enough to enable you to complete your intended task then great, but I’ve just wasted an hour trying to view the “on camera” footage. The app is essential for setting up the camera and therefore I can’t recommend buying Blackvue.
